I can't seem to ever find "Unsung". What channel does it come on?

TV-One. [Edited 10/12/10 11:02am]

Yeah it was ok....I hope TV One isn't adding more revered artists in favor of the obscure ones to just get more views and popularity. I am STILL waiting for my Sylvers episode, by the way TV ONE. Check me out and add me on:

Did anyone seen him with his real hair? He actually look better without the indian chief color wig

Just a bunch of Talking heads.......no real insight. It's all the shit I already knew. Disappointing.

PoppyBros said: Did anyone seen him with his real hair? He actually look better without the indian chief color wig George clinton was sexy as hell without all that bullshit on him and his face....id hit a lick on that one...in the older era b4 he changed his look. He temporarily went back to that style actually for the Trombipulation era wearing a nice look with fingerwaves and a pompador...looked so young. Anyway I can't wait to watch it though. I never watched a george clinton documentary before..but read enough and know the albums enough. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I almost cried when I saw Garry. [Edited 10/12/10 13:25pm]

I dunno...
To some degree, I can understand him being one
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
yeah, me too | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Well I can kinda see it too...with his legal issues perhaps... then again I don't know... he IS in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, rappers sampled him for years, he's often mentioned. The fact they were successful without crossing over to pop is outstanding. I guess they could've focused on why the group didn't cross over to pop but then that wasn't what George wanted anyway.

yeah, plus he had 2 bands in one....
when has that happen b 4 them?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Hasn't happened before or since. George's the only one who really got away with that.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Would have like to know since he owns the Warner Bros. stuff, wondered if that includes Bootsy's recordings too?
Plus what about the Capitol recordings?
Do he own "Atomic Dawg"
Because if he does, then he should be financially ok on that tune alone, much as it's been sampled.

I think because he signed with that corrupt dude, all of his songs are in that dude's name rather than George. I could be wrong though. George still has enough money to have a recording studio in his home so I don't know.

yeah, he can't be that broke if he got an studio

Next season on Unsung:
Nat King Cole Prince Diana Ross
Following Karen Hughes' wackadoo philosophy, anything is possible. BTW: Does anyone know who and what the cable channel Centric is all about? They busted out with a day long marathon of The Cosby Show that helped me through the flu a couple weeks back. Space for sale...

There was a documentary about P-Funk on PBS a few years ago on their Independent Lens program. I think it was 90 minutes long. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I would like to see one on Slave, Mass Production, and Sister Sledge ironically all Cotillion/Atlantic artists. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

It sucked. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I don't think it was surpasses the PBS documentary. Still, given the fact that Unsung has a big young following, I'm glad they went with it.

I liked the interesting bit on his doo wop Parliaments and the Testify song which planted the seed for Parliament /Funkadelic. George looked wild as hell singing Testify. I actually thought it was an interesting episode. Don't laugh at my funk

Nevermind, it's the old BETJazz station rebranded and still run by BET. Whatever, Tom! Space for sale...

yeah...not many earth shattering reveletions for the fans in this one (hence why he was a poor chice for this series).
Still though....a lotta reeeeally cool vintage footage in there....worth watching for that alone. Funk Is It's Own Reward

But Peanut claimed that he help write 'One Nation Under A Groove', 'Flashlight' and other tunes.
That was a new one on me | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I've heard a few dodgy claims like that from several of the Mob over the years......I dunno. Listen to "One Nation".......that thang sounds like a massive collabo if there ever was one. I mean, shit..they had a damned banjo lick they were vibin offa at first...had to most of em contributing (along with a few LSD martinis). Funk Is It's Own Reward
