In her dreams. There is NO female Prince.

Love her. The virtuoso piano playing and production skills could be seen as a parallel. Her pursuit of spiritual/sexual themes as well.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, but can she jump off pianos and do splits? I-DON'T-THINKSO!!! Christopher damn!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I bet she could do it better than Prince these days
*CRACK!* | |

Umm.....what?
"Chaos & Disorder" and "Emancipation" both came out in 1996. That's two separate albums AND 4 discs of material.
"The Chocolate Invasion" and "The Slaughterhouse" both came out in 2004.
"Xpectation", "C-Note" AND "N.E.W.S" all came out in 2003.
As for being the female Prince.......LOL.
She needs to learn a few more instruments and master a few more genres of music before she even gets HALFWAY there. |

on rihanna's facebook page her fans had the nerve to compare her to prince
that is a pimp backhand slap to prince's talent and career
this girl admitted that she hated performing ???what!!?!! BIT!, are you serious!!! ?!?!
how are you a so called entertainer and you dont like to entertain?
what the fuck??? thats like a surgeon saying they dont like to perform surgery
i swear to you the world is ending soon ...with shit like this going on

omg get out of here compare rihanna to prince, anyway i don't think she doesn't like to perform she just get nervous everytime she has to on her good girl gone bad dvd she say she get butterflies everytime she does a concert, billboard compared her to milli vanilli about her having hit singles but not lots of people really buys her album but she slays as a singles artist
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
i agree she is massive on the charts but she cannot perform for shit !!
that really irks me ...if she makes all that money, she better leave her heart on the stage and perform and give the people what they paid for
yes shes beautiful , bold (fashion wise), and has a unique voice, i give her that but she has no emotion in her performance ...waste of time to she her live

Tori is like a fine wine. The more you expose yourself to her music the better it gets. There's something that really turns me on about a virtuoso. Her piano is an extension of her body.... the way Jimi's guitar was.
The woman is a genius. | |

The Prince comparison has nothing to do with how many instruments each person plays. They were only being compared in terms of the amount of music they have released throughout their careers.

Well-said!
She's an incredible talent, and I think her impressive catalogue of music will be appreciated more and more as time goes by.
But beyond being prolific, and immensely talented, I see very little similarity with Prince. * * *

Remember for every time Prince dropped an album and changed the game with a new look or sound, Madonna's been the same thing on her side. While a million r&b bands were buyin up all the lace, Linn drums, four inch heels, and androgyny they could find, all the girls were cuttin up their shirts wearin the vanity belts, curling their hair and wearin lace undies tryin 2 be Madge or was that Prince? lol [Edited 9/27/10 15:06pm]

In terms of body of work -- not style, but substance -- do you really think that in terms of quality, volume, and impact, Madonna's catalogue stands with Prince's?
I'm not declaring Prince as the sine qua non of all things music, I'm focusing on Madge and P. In terms of cultural impact, no doubt Madge equals and likely outstrips Prince. But in terms of musical legacy, I respectfully submit that the question ain't even close. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Well I wouldn't say outstrip 'cause they're both in the same class, but I still say they're closer than we think. No, Madge wasn't ever much on vocals and instrumentation but comin from her dance background she knew how to put the right people together to write those songs and create those live shows that made the release date of her albums the events they were. At the same time, one of the keys 2 Prince's genius was that like James Brown he had sharp ears and knew what made people pack them floors, them record stores, and the ears of all the DJ's askin who was that and where can I get a copy?

I'm sure you can tell from my avatar that I'm a Tori fan.
I would say calling her the female Prince is an insult to Tori. Unlike Prince, Tori has remained consistant throughout and continues to write and produce meaningful, creative and inspired music to this day. As a big fan of both artists, I've grown up listening to these two, and I know that Tori has never let me down. Prince on the other hand....

What's odd is at the time of her first CD we thought Jane Child would be the female Prince. Oh well. That's why Dionne Warwick's Psychic Friends never hired us. I thought Lady Gaga was "the new Prince"

personally, I don't see it. in fact, in most of the ways that they are similar, they are, to me, diametric opposites.

Prince has a lot more class than her

yeah, that guitar masturbation and shooting jizz on the audience act was classy

I dont know why but Toris last couple of albums havent been all that great IMHO. And ive been a fan since about 1994. After strange little girls I kinda stopped listening

Tori's could be compared to Carole King or Joni Mitchell sooner than she could Prince.

P doesn't really have a female equivalent, but Teena Marie is the only one I can think of that has at least some similarities with Prince. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always
