I was kinda 'meh' about "American Doll Posse" - i really loved it initially but I think the production is problematic... very murky and flat. There are some terrific songs on that album though and they really came through live. The official bootlegs she released from that tour are outstanding.

And I really really like her last album "abnormally attracted to sin". in my opinion it's a return to her top form. I think it was very much overlooked and will come to be appreciated in time.

I agree though she's not really like Prince at all. I view her more similar to Patti Smith or Joni Mitchell

Umm.....what?

"Chaos & Disorder" and "Emancipation" both came out in 1996. That's two separate albums AND 4 discs of material.

"The Chocolate Invasion" and "The Slaughterhouse" both came out in 2004.

"Xpectation", "C-Note" AND "N.E.W.S" all came out in 2003.

As for being the female Prince.......LOL.

She needs to learn a few more instruments and master a few more genres of music before she even gets HALFWAY there.

Musicology came out in 2004 also.

i not familar with her so i have to check her out, on another website people was discussing how she's the female equivilant of prince in terms of

1. Prolific output
2. The vast quantity and generally high quality of her B-sides and unreleased tracks

All her post-00's albums have practically been double albums, she even released two albums last year, which is something Prince has never done.

And any fan worth their salt knows that the huge amount of unreleased/b-side Tori material out there is staggering.

There really is no-one else around today that I know of who can compete with Prince on these fronts (this is the OP's Post)

are guys into her music also?

lol

Me'Shell Ndegeocello is the contemporary female artist (or for that matter, contemporary artist) most comparable to Prince.

When will the comparisons stop between artists? Let the artists be their own folks lol

Not directing this to you Happy Person, but it's just in general. smile

When it comes to business/commercial persona then I do think Madonna and Prince are the ones to compare, if you must.

They may include different ingredients in their own unique "recipes" but the finished product, as perceived by the consumer, is probably a suitable match - moreso than anyone else you could compare to either of them.

It's a fair point. The more music one listens to, the more one realizes that a great artist is great because that artist has a talent, or a "voice," that distinguishes that artist from everyone else, regardless of that artist's inspirations.

In the end, it is a fruitless exercise for the purposes of anything but passing time.
