Yes I am. That song PUMPS ME THE FUCK UP!

Only four people voted for "Suffragette City"? I thought that song would have done better with all the Bowie fams on here. [Edited 9/23/10 18:35pm]

Hehe. But this song still made the top 100 without my help!

It's my favorite Bowie song so I'm pumped up with you there.

I'm looking forward to a top 10 not dominated by Prince. We haven't seen that since the 00s.

One song is not domination. And that song made my top ten so I have no problem with it charting high.

It's a catchy single with very smart lyrics, and it marked the beginning of P golden era; other than that, I don't think it even deserves to be placed among the 100 best songs of the 70s...

It's only natural that many orgers feel differently.

Great job again, Moonbeam (and everyone else)!
Interesting that the #1 song didn't receive any 1st-place votes... Nice pick regardless! "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

What's Going On ranked at #1 is a pleasant surprise. I'm glad it won even though it wasn't personally ranked high. That song's message could be applied to every decade. Thanks Ian! Next are the album results. Are we ready to start the 60's? "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

Perfectly fine top10 (minus the Prince song ), it floors me that the MJ songs have not ranked even higher (Top5)...
Anyway, I think that What's Goin' On, Superstition, Let's Stay Together and Bohemian Rhapsody perfectly define what the first half of the 70s were about (soul, funk and glam/progressive rock), sadly, the second half of the 70s is not well represented (new wave, reagge, electronic, disco, punk, etc.)...
can't wait for the album list.

Prince tops MJ again, hah!
I don't see that happening on the album list though.

Hmm, if you look at the Top10, you can already predict the top10 of the album list :
Off the Wall A Night at the Opera Talking Book Innervisions Heroes (or Low) What's Goin' On
+ perhaps a Sly album, + Let's Get It On and obviously Songs in the Key of Life...and perhaps another Bowie album... etc.
but if Prince (1979) makes the top10, I swear I will chop my penis off...

A Night at the Opera is a glam album for me , and half of Sheer Heart Attack

I have my axe ready...just in case; seriously, if an album which includes With You and Still Waiting makes the top10, I'll be so shocked, that my penis won't be able to work again, so I'll chop it off...

These poll results just became a lot more exciting!
Not that I actually want you to cut your member off of course.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I just want Prince 1979 OUT OF the top10, that's all I want...
uh, I also want a black woman with fake blonde hair and big tits...but that's another story...

At this point, I'm shocked that you'd be shocked. Have you ever worked with statistics? Have you seen the previous results? Musically, it stands to reason that the artist (no pun intended) we have most in common is Prince. Moonbeam's algorithm obviously takes into account number of votes as well as ranking, so it stands to reason that Prince's efforts will float to the top (especially in a group of such varying tastes).
I'd guess the likelihood that Prince isn't in the top 20 is very low and it has an excellent shot to make the top 10. Prepare your penis. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

screw statistics. I'm no fool and I know Prince 1979 will PROBABLY make the top20; I just hope that, with the HUGE amount of CLEARLY superior & more revolutionary 70s albums, sanity will prevail and Prince 1979 will be kept out of the top10, specially if you consider that this album doesn't feature a lot of classics and it isn't one of the most loved P albums out there (in fact, it's somewhat forgotten, and rightfully so); I'll be happy if it makes the 11 spot...but please, no top10, my penis is at stake! Come didn't make the top10 on the 90s album list so there's hope... [Edited 9/30/10 14:57pm]
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You won't be able to screw statistics once you cut off your dick.
Anyway, the huge amount of "clearly superior & more revolutionary" albums will split votes between them, which is exactly what will allow Prince to ascend the charts. Unlike Come, it won't be competing against a variety of Prince and Prince-related releases, which helps it even more. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Thanks for the poll. Although I wasn't around to participate in the singles' poll, I'm glad to see that my two all time favorite songs (if I had to choose from ALL the songs I love) are up there--"As" by Stevie Wonder and "September" by EW&F. Anytime I hear these two songs I go into a euphoric trance and immediately want to dance! (Sorry, Prince & MJ--though you're up there, too!). Interesting, but not really surprising top 10! I think several of those songs would fall on most peoples top 10 songs of the 70s lists. I can't wait for the albums If you will, so will I
