I am tired of you all not knowing how kick-ass SWEET was Better than Queen, as good as Zep! I've had friends reluctantly admit this after being shown the light...
Does anyone remember? ... The SWEET
I wish I'd seen them live, but I was about 5 at the time. Apparently seeing them in concert was the same as listening to the record - the 4-part harmonies were air-tight. Check out the 3rd song as well, Lady Starlight. Beautiful.
Okay, Sweet FA has got to be one of the most kick-ass jams committed to tape. No shit. It just fucking ROCKS.
You might know this one. They got way mellower that year ('78) but it was cool.
From the same album (Level Headed). I call this Hot Tub Rock. "Boogie thru 'til morning."

I certainly do remember Sweet. They had some good songs.
Better than Queen - not in a million years.

In some ways, the Sweet epitomized all the tacky hubris and garish silliness of the early '70s. Fusing bubblegum melodies with crunching, fuzzy guitars, the band looked a heavy metal band, but were as tame as any pop group

They lost all that in 1974 with Desolation Boulevard. Check out Sweet FA and tell me that's tame as any pop group.

Queen's legacy is their slew of incredible hits. But the "other" 9 songs on any given Queen record aren't all that great, in fact I consider them pretty hard to listen to.

A teacher at my college was in The Sweet for a while in the 90's and 2000's. |

That's too bad that you find it hard listening to the songs that were not hits. I have an extensive Queen collection and I love just about everything. They were so unique.

That's cool that you like the deep cuts. I find them hard to "get" myself, but Queen Live Killers is one of my all time favorite records, for what it's worth.
