Aguilera: Bionic is Over

Yeah, it's over because it's garbage, and you know it.

http://www.aguileraonline...-over.html

Christina Aguilera has revealed that she has moved on from her latest album Bionic.

The LP - Aguilera's first in four years - peaked at number one in the UK with the lowest opening-week sales for an album ever. It dropped to number 29 the following week.

Speaking at a press conference for her new movie Burlesque, she said: "The creative process that involved Bionic is over, I did what I wanted to do and I'm satisfied with it.

"If the album sells or if the songs are a hit, I don't care and I don't need to know it, I did my part and I gave 100% while I was doing it, and I'm proud of this work."

Discussing the film, she added: "Burlesque was a different process, I'll support this project util the end, but not to find out if it was a box office hit or not - that is not what motivates me.

"The creative process is my thing, I'm an artist and once something is over, I look forward for what is next, and I don't look back."

Aguilera's new single 'You Lost Me' is out September 20.

The whole project just seemed generic and lacking any individual identity.

Let's make songs that sound like everyone else's songs.

Let's get Nicki Minaj on a song just like the million other songs she's on now.

Let's push a vaguely electronic/robotic image just like everyone else.

Frankly, I think if she had done "Bionic" in 2006, and "Back To Basics" this year, both albums would have been a lot better as they would have been different to what everyone else was doing at the time.

Totally agree on the switch w/ the two albums. That sound was hot a few years ago. I think folks like Madonna kind of set that into swing in 1998 when Ray of Light and Music. The sound grew, and Bionic would have fit greatly in the public a few years ago. It would have been more "fresh" and trend-setting three or four years ago. These days, a lot of bands are hearkening back to the older soul/R&B sound (Leela James, N'dambi, Sharon Jones). Neo-Soul has taken a turn toward that sometimes, and stuff like Back To Basics would have, again, set a standard in that field. She's making bad decisions. I understand an artist wanting to do new things, but timing is everything. She has no sense of culture, or the musical landscape, but rather just how swollen her vagina is at the moment.

Its sad to hear that she's left it as she worked on Bionic for a long time, maybe a bit too long, as if it came out a bit early with maybe around 12 strong tracks it would have surpassed the Gaga craze and this 'future' sound and look that we have had since 2006, even though Fanmail and 3D surpass and 'futurpop' albums that came after. I still listen to Bionic because so far its the best pop album of the year.

To me, to hear that she does not care if, the album sell or if the songs are a hit, is like me saying I don't like enrolling a student and once they are enrolled, I DON'T care if they graduate. The basis on whether or not an album sells and is a hit, STARTS with the effort that you put forth, during the creative process. This is exactly what is wrong with the music of today....Some artist just don't give a shyt...

Identity

I dismiss it as nonsense anytime I hear an artist make the claim that sales are inconsequential. She had such enthusiasm for the Bionic project up until the disappointing first week domestic sales.

She's just trying to buck the fact that it's a dismal failure. "Oh I put my best into it and I am proud of that." Yeah, 15 song about your vagina is something to really write home about.

Theres a huge difference in a creative process. NO artist sets outs saying "gee i hope no one gets this" but at the same time, an artist shouldnt be "relying" on "i hope this sells". I know people dont get the whole thing when artists say "whether its number one or doesnt chart doesnt matter to me", but its an overall statement, sure we would all like to sell millions and be on top, BUT, if thats your guidance, then you dont get the process. If you are sitting down in the creative process and thinking "wheres this gonna sell, what market, will so and so dig it" then you are already comprimising what you do. NOw every artist is different, PRINCE saying " i really dont care who buys it and where it charts" and we think its a cool statement, but if its someone we dont dig, personally, artisically, etc..then they are full of shit. Now Aguilera seems to always come off wrong because she has that "way" about her, but i have no problem with someone saying things like that, its when people BACK AWAY from a good album because it didnt sell and throw it under the bus for a PR move, example Mariah Carey's dismissal of Glitter as an album.

Actually, its quite the opposite, those people give too much of a shit. Its the reason why every mainstream artist is a wuss with a spine-less stance against formula and riding the bandwagon untill the wheels fall off.

Aguilera can act like she's above all of this mess, but her actions so far speak a totally different story. Had her "fuck you" attitude been sincere and not for show, the girl would've been 1/2 way interesting.

What makes this worse is that the talentless Rihanna will outsell her and have radio support.

The movie has nothing to do with her first and foremost. She didnt write it, direct it, produce it, and there are alot of others that have higher billing than her (cher, kristen bell etc...), people like to always blame the actor for movies, when in reality if it sucks, they didnt write it, there is no one in this movie that has strong "acting skill" like a Sean Penn where people are going for the acting, they are going to see Kristen Bell in little outfits.

That's because the 'talentless Rihanna' has a great team behind her that knows how to prep her (image and music wise) for her audience. Christina is just all over the place. confused

just one problem with that. there was no Lady Gaga for her to pretend not to ape in 2006, so Bionic (and the new recordings on whatever that greatest hits album was) wouldn't have been able to exist.

True but let's not kid ourselves. If the movie flops, the media will refer to it as "Christina Aguilera's flop movie" lol It will be viewed as her second major flop of this year.
