Now that is a musical masterwork of colossal proportions. I wonder what Prince thought of it, cos the final cut of Ain't No Place Like You sounds Tricky-esque to me.

Really??? I think the songwriting is really easy to get into, especially the most "hyped" album, Nevermind

I don't think a lot of people flocked to that one. Overhyped as any Jay-Z album, but certainly not by listeners or critics.

I love almost all of those! lol

Grace--Jeff Buckley

Shoot Out the Lights--Richard Thompson

I'm with you on those two. I find Jeff Buckley's vocals to be a touch too hysterical for my tastes. I like his dad, though.

There are great songs on Shoot Out the Lights, but I'd rate at least 4 of the songs as ordinary. I much prefer 'I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight.'

I'm going to limit this to albums I've actually heard all the way through, or this could get ugly. lol

The Beatles- Sgt. Pepper: I was an unwilling listener to this as somebody put it on in a public computer lab. I knew I hated The Beatles before hearing it, but having to sit through this whole thing was really difficult. lol

The Killers- Hot Fuss: I'm embarrassed to say that I own this. I thought I liked "Somebody Told Me" so I picked it up. Yuck city!

Arcade Fire- The Suburbs: I quite like the first 2 albums, but I find this overhyped album to be really boring.

The Specials- The Specials: I liked "Ghost Town", so I figured I'd try their debut album. I listened to it once. I don't plan to listen to it anytime soon. lol

My Morning Jacket- Z: This had great reviews, and I could see what was being admired about it, but it just hasn't clicked. I don't hate it, but I haven't warmed to it some 5 years later.

The Velvet Underground- Loaded: The first two VU albums were very educational and important listens for me, and I cherish them. This, however, reminds me of The Beatles. Enough said. lol

OutKast- Speakerboxxx/The Love Below: Give me Aquemini over this 11 times out of 10.

Digable Planets- Blowout Comb: I adored their debut and heard great things about this, but it just didn't click. Maybe I need to give it another spin, as I'm sure I could find something of value in it.

Ultravox- Vienna: It's supposed to be a New Romantic classic, and maybe it is, but I just don't get it.

Fever Ray- Fever Ray: I had high hopes after Silent Shout, but this just doesn't work for me.

Missy Elliott- Under Construction: What a disappointing followup to Miss E.... I love This Is Not a Test, though.

New Order- Get Ready: Hardly the return to form it's known as. "Crystal" is magical, but the rest?

Blur- Blur: I picked this up because I love Gorillaz and I dig "Song 2". Didn't care for much of the rest.

Santogold- Santogold: I get why it's acclaimed, but I love the RES album so much more!

Peter Gabriel- So: It has some nice singles, but it feels so lightweight overall.

Madonna- Music: What a lackluster album ultimately. Ray of Light was really excellent, and this album seems to have caught the acclaim of critics ready to catch up and make up with her. Nonetheless, there aren't even a handful of songs I really care about here.

Carole King- Tapestry: I should have known better to buy this, but it is so well-loved. It's just not my thing.

Animal Collective- Merriweather Post Pavilion: The most beloved album of 2009 has its moments, but ultimately leaves me cold.

I had a university friend who was a huge New Romantic junkie, and I was exposed to that album a lot. I think Midge Ure is one of the more unctuous vocalists I've ever heard, but I still get a campy kick out of listening to it for old time's sake every now and then.

All of Beyonce's albums are overrated. Aside from the singles, I don't get the hype. Emancipation of Mimi is another one.

Liz Phair's Exile In Guyville. I think it's dreary indie-rock of the most non-descript sort. Two great songs (Fuck & Run and Explain It To Me) surrounded by generic songs that Yo La Tengo or Sebadoh would knock off as b-sides. I know lots of reasonable, level-headed folks love it to death, and I'm always ready to admit when I'm wrong, but I like to think the fact that her subsequent career was such a bust vindicates my opinion that she was never any good to begin with.

Oh, I like that album and Whip-Smart quite a bit! Her subsequent nosedive did sully her reputation, though.

Hate to keep adding more hype to certain albums but jeez, the debut is barely memorable for me, while the second one is completely melded to my mind.

This is one of the albums I listed where I feel the issue is mine, though. I'd venture that I'd get more out of it by giving it another spin. Still, that debut is one of my all-time favorite rap albums!

D'Angelo - Voodoo

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

The Velvet Underground & Nico - s/t

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon

The Who - Tommy

Smoke some good indica and Voodoo will make more sense. lol

Agreed on all others!

I actually liked Voodoo more than expected. Something about the way the songs seemed to flow into the song following with no sudden break or long silence. Listening to it while driving always seemed relaxing.
