Sean Garrett: “Beyonce Is Interested In Making Party Music”

It looks like Beyonce is getting ready to take everybody back to the dance floor. In a recent interview with Music Mix producer/songwriter Sean Garrett revealed that the dynamic diva is in fact working on making more of the “party music” that defines most of her biggest hits. Garrett previously worked with Beyonce to make ‘Get Me Bodied’, ‘Diva’ and ‘Upgrade U’. Check out what he had to say below:

“I am going in the studio with Beyoncé this week to work on her next record,” Garrett told the Music Mix at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. “I think we are doing a lot of up-tempo records for this one. She’s in such a good place right now in life that she is interested in making party music, definitely.” {Source}

Beyonce working on party music? How shocking! It seems blatantly obvious that Beyonce is intent on accumulating as many hits as she can without actually taking a risk and crafting a timeless album that has actual artistic depth. It’s disappointing to see someone as incredibly talented as her not tap into her full potential as an artist and make songs that impact people’s lives instead of just making them shake their backsides.

Artists like Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey have proven time and again that it is possible to top the charts while singing songs with actual meaning (see: ‘Man In The Mirror’ and ‘Hero’). If only Beyonce would show the same kind of growth with her musical material that she has shown with her astounding vocal performances and stage shows.

Then again, everybody doesn’t have to be inspirational; some people try to change lives through motivational lyrical themes while others do it through making upbeat/fun songs. If the latter is the lane that Ne-Yo thinks Beyonce has conquered then he might be right

My favorite thing about all these stories about these popular girls in music is the guaranteed nervous breakdowns that are happening behind the scenes in order to outdo each other nod Now that is a behind the music I wanna see! lol

Good. Sasha Fierce was the first Beyonce album I enjoyed so I was hoping she would stick with that more pop dance feel.

Party music for who? A shit hop wheelchair nursing home tempo with some lyrics that lie about how she can rock a party? Or an acid/trance type song with a tempo so fast that only drugged out rabbits can hop around to it? Real party music (funky ass shakin' tempoed music) doesn't exist anymore.

Everything about her is so calculated. Even Stevie Wonder could have seen this coming.

I usually never believe the pre-album hype that comes with artist these days but for some reason, I think we're going get what we always get from her. More of the same. From her standpoint it ain't broke, so she aint got nothing to fix. Especially after such a huge hit with "Single Ladies." Sometimes success stifles growth. Artist/Record labels tend to force feed us more of what they think we want and sacrifice any potential growth, in the name of record sales.

But as an artist you'd think she'd challenge herself more. She needs her sister's balls smile

For her last album, she came up with an alter ego,but still recorded the same type of music that we heard on the previous albums lol Whatever happened to artistic evolution....growing and evolving with each new album? Many of todays' artists just make the same album over and over.

What's interesting, to me at least, was that the alter ego half of the album was where we got the same sound from Beyonce that she had on B'Day. It was the Beyonce half of the album where she took risks and put together some BEAUTIFUL tracks...Broken Hearted Girl, I Disappear, and That's Why You're Beautiful were all great, and different from her earlier material.

Now if we can have another album without Jay-Z, I'll be happy.

Thank you for posting this. A Beyoncé album with minimal vocal production? And even the SF CD, she didn't do as much funk and she didn't have that many uptempo songs. In fact, B'day was more "Sasha Fierce" than the Sasha Fierce CD. She will have a mix of uptempo and ballads as usual. It's her lane and she does it well.

That's what I was kinda thinking... since Lady Gaga's now the IT girl, she's gonna go for a sound similar to her's trying to get HER audience. I see what she's doing. She ain't interested in "making party music", she's interested in trying to get more popular. lol

Sean is just one producer. I doubt the whole album will be ''party'' music or be produced solely by him. What's with the GaGa comments. Beyoncé has always had upbeat music on her albums. GaGa doesn't own upbeat music. You lot are pathetic, looking for any excuse to bitch about her. Why do you care what music is on her album? Obviously, none of you will be buying it. I can't stand Bono, but I don't bitch about him on forums. Get a life, FFS.

Yup. Welcome to 1998 and beyond....calculated music, by calculated record executives, and calculated artists...ICK. 99% of these artists today try way too hard and it is so transparent.

Beyonce, Kanye, GaGa...all of them....FAKE. CALCULATED. TRASH. razz

I'd be more interested with this had she been exploring techno or dubstep maybe. Otherwise, it's same shit, different album.

Yep to all of this. Especially your point about the original version of B'day. I like the BL without Shakira better than the one with it.

Right...but they are different lanes, really. Like the person you're replying to said, Bey has always done dance music. More Urban...but still uptempo dance. One thing I have never understood, people say that Bey collaborated with Gaga because she got hot...but why don't people question Gaga's "motives"(not saying you're doing it, but saying it in general) for "jumping" with Bey? I mean, she's dance-pop and being with Bey who is HUGE when it comes to Urban Top 40/Contemporary R&B(Pop & Soul Genre) exposes her to another audience who may not like Gaga otherwise(yes, I know she's cool with Akon, Monsters). I don't understand why some people don't see it from that aspect either.
