Someone who drives a car and is high. He was also possibly high from whatever medication he was in. According to reports, he's a pill popper too.

yeah, I figure something else had to be involved.

I used to drive after (or while) smoking the strongest Northern CA weed ever (not that it was smart or made me a better driver) and never had an issue. When you smoke all the time you get used to it. It's not like alcohol.

But I was a cautious driver, because I knew I was breaking the law, maybe GM is not.

It sort of ticks me off in a round about way when people do this sort of shit. GM wouldn't have the life he has without the fans. It's ALWAYS thanks to the fans. Fans buy the albums, go to the shows, buy the re-issues, buy the merchandise, wait out the eccentricities of an artist, and still support them. They artists are rolling in our dough.

Now while that doesn't give us a right to dictate how they live their lives, it does feel like a smack in the face to the fans when an artist abuses that privilege of being a star, and being someone's favorite artist. What a horrible example he's become. He writes songs like "An Easier Affair", telling gay folks "don't let them use my life to bring your future down, don't let them tell you that happiness can't be found", then he goes and does stuff that is fully going to make him a hypocrite. It's all very "Do as I say, don't do as I do."

"Thank you for buying into my product, and now I am going to be a fuck up as a note of gratitude. Please buy the new $145 Faith repackage. I need more pot money."

While I don't need GM to be a role model for me, his music, and him being out, HAS effected and influenced me as a gay man, and even as a musician. I don't necessarily look up to him as a role model, but I do admire him for what he's done in his life, and what he's been through, and (most times) how's he handled it. I guess the anger comes from people knowing the talent he has, and that there are still great things in him, yet all he's doing is getting fat, staying high, and fuckin' whoever he can when Kenny's not home.

I agree with that , at times it feels like a waste of time . If you not going to use your talent no point in me putting out money towards you. Hopefully this is a wake up call for him I enjoy George Michael's music.

yeah, Berkeley, but also when I lived in LA. I doubt it's ok to drive while smoking even in Berkeley, though!

Really, though, by issue I meant I never had an accident or even got close to one. Certainly never crashed into a storefront like GM did!

No, George has freely admitted that he's been so high on pot before that he couldn't even STAND UP in the studio long enough to sing on a track. He had to lay down on the floor and do it. lol

lol I know the feeling, but it can be overcome. But yeah that is no condition to be in while driving.

Man this thread reminds me of how glad I am that I don't smoke anymore! I remember one summer of playing tennis after doing massive bong hits and there would be this weird flash in my consciousness, like a blink in my brain. I was probably having tiny strokes!

George Michael has been sentenced to eight weeks in jail after admitting crashing his Range Rover while under the influence of cannabis.

In the hearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court in London the singer was told he will spend four weeks in prison and the rest of the time on licence.

He was also banned from driving for five years and ordered to pay a £1,250 fine, £100 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

The 47-year-old sighed as District Judge John Perkins sentenced him and one fan sobbed as he was taken to the cells by prison guards.

Michael was told he had taken a "dangerous and unpredictable mix" of prescription drugs and cannabis.

Police found the singer, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, slumped at the wheel of his vehicle and "spaced out" after the accident on July 4.

At a court appearance last month, Michael pleaded guilty to driving while unfit through drugs and possessing two cannabis joints.

Michael was banned from driving as he already has a conviction over a similar charge from three years ago.

In the July incident, the singer was driving home in the early hours of the morning when he mounted the pavement and crashed into a Snappy Snaps shop in Hampstead, north London.

The store's windows were shattered and the yellow wooden panels of the shopfront were cracked.

Officers at the scene suspected the former Wham! star had taken drugs because he was sweating and had dilated pupils.

He was arrested and taken to Hampstead police station, where two joints were found on him.

A blood sample was taken and chemicals linked to cannabis were found in his system. He had not been drinking alcohol.

Michael apologised to fans soon after the incident via his website, saying he had attended a London clinic for a detox programme.

"Personal problems which I had tried to deal with myself had clearly got the better of me, and I am sorry that my pride has prevented me from seeking help before now," he wrote.

In May 2007, Michael admitted another charge of driving while unfit through drugs after police found his car obstructing traffic lights in Cricklewood, London.

In October 2006, he was convicted of the same charge after he was found collapsed in his Mercedes.

He has also been cautioned for drugs possession, questioned over several minor accidents and, famously, fined for "engaging in a lewd act" in a California public toilet.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that fantastic buzz cut last seen during the Older era.

such a shame. had he been able to keep his shit together, think of all the great things he could have done, and could still be doing. he'd rather sit around, get wasted, fuck with strangers in parks, than write and record.

i'm a huge fan, always have been, and his downfall is one of the tragic stories in pop of the last 20 years.

maybe this will save him, as others have said. he'll have plenty of time of solitude to think about things like: "Gee, how did I go from being among the Top 5 or 6 pop stars in the world, to sitting in jail." Maybe he'll come out and get himself in shape. I hope so.

^^^ He's falling into the same trap Prince is, really. He's become unchallenged, and bored. Bored people are usually boring. Prince remains unchallenged in his music, his personal life, etc.

GM has become unchallenged in that he said he didn't plan to release anymore studio albums. He was supposed to be writing a book, but I've yet to hear any release date or plans around that lately.

I feel his sentence is not long enough.

Plus, I think he needs some sort of rehab help. Judge should of considered that.

Once he cleans up he'll need botox and a hair dye job.

Been a long time fan and still am.

Gonna play me some GM cds tonight music

Co-sign on the longer sentence; he could've killed somebody and he'll only serve half that sentence. Aren't most rehabs 30-day programs? 4 weeks + 30 days = 8 weeks

Botox - ya think? He's still fine as fuck.
