They both sound like crap sometimes, but only one props herself up as a legendary artist of epic proportions.

Just the other day Xtina was on radio saying "I welcome newcomers!!" in reference to Gaga lol ill She's really deluded, and it's killing her career. She could do with a dose of Britney's humility.

Legend-tina?! She definitely needs some humility. Your career hasn't even spanned 20 years, kid!

What's it been -- like only 3 months? And she abandons the project already? Wow.

Christina Aguilera isn't the first female artist who had her third or fourth album fall well short of expectations, but I think what really makes this failure noteworthy was her attitude and ego going into it. While Pink, Kelly Clarkson, and Rihanna all had albums which flopped after releasing their huge breakthough albums, at least they didn't go around claiming that their next album was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. That's why Pink and Kelly Clarkson rebounded on their next albums and Rihanna will most likely do so herself. Xtina, on the other hand, took a really long time creating Bionic and claimed that it was going to be the most groundbreaking album of the last ten years. But once it was released and found to be a rehash of Lady GaGa-type beats and synths and the weaker parts of Stripped, people just ignored it.

Christina's got a while before people will call her a legend.

Frankly, I think if she had done "Bionic" in 2006, and "Back To Basics" this year, both albums would have been a lot better as they would have been different to what everyone else was doing at the time.

just one problem with that. there was no Lady Gaga for her to pretend not to ape in 2006, so Bionic (and the new recordings on whatever that greatest hits album was) wouldn't have been able to exist.

I wish she would look at why Stripped was a success (and its weak points) and go from there.

I heard some of Bionic and it was so weak. She even had that dumb faux-rapping on it. Girl, your voice was not meant for that. Leave that to the girls who can't do what YOU do.

If she is ever referred to as a "legend" it's for her Stripped work.

Bionic slows down into a number of slower ballads, but if she has ONE worth releasing as a single, it might have saved this project, at least from the AC radio angle. But there's the problem with her aping Gaga's image again. It does not appeal to a large majority of her fanbase. And it's certainly too tame for everyone else.

this industry is fickle. it's hard to come back after a mega flop like this and suddenly become relevent again. she's talented but i don't see her doing it, at least on the same scale as her prior success. i'm sure she'll have a long career, she's a terrific vocalist, but i'd be surprised to see her being a major force in pop music in the future.
