THE. BEST. EVER.

2)

Get into your faves jumping up and down in anticipation to see Janet rape the stage lol

3)

Amazing synchronized choregraphy, slaying her own background dancers at 34.

4)

The spins, ripping her t-shirt, etc. So fierce and hott! >>>

Every one of those performances was lipsynched. lol

Entertaining for sure, but I personally could never put lipsynched performances on a best of list.

The "If/That's the Way Love Goes" performance was NOT lipsynched, at all. You can even friggin' hear that she's out of breath by the time it ends.

Eminem I love..but Rihanna would not have been missed...I like her too.

Cher LOOKED AWESOME!

Taylor Swift mad

Nikki's booty mad mad

Will.I.AM.......Bitchsmack

Hell no. She is everywhere and has been for what seems like years now. And Beyonce has to take a break now surely.

Music videos died with Michael Jackson. Well OK, maybe not quite, but they might as well of done.

The thing is, she is boring already, the media and industry dont get this, we get bombarded with 2-3 artists 24/7 nonstop, no wonder there are "hate" threads for artists today, they need to learn to spread the marketing dollars and explore shit again, MTV is not relevant and hasnt been, this show is all about what will happen and who will do the "buzz" thing that gets the soundbyte, MTV is a scam and a shell of what it once wassss, i cant compare an award show that at one time, had Tina Turner Hall and Oates, Pat Benatar, and great bands like Inxs and REM and U2 and others like Lionel and Michael, and now being a channel that promotes Snooki and Heidi and Spencer 24/7

Same here. I was so thrilled when HIStory VHS Volume 2 came out back in 97 because it

had this on there! I loved it!!

I remember like in 1996, a year after this performance, a friend of mine in middle school

was talking about cool things on MTV, and they talked about how, this performance

was the coolest thing ever shown on MTV - Period. And this guy was all into heavy

metal music and hardcore rock, so for him to like this, spoke volumes.

He said his favorite part was when Michael started into "Billie Jean" and Slash

was playing.

Michael never relied on gimmicks during his performances, dressing up wearing

some bloody costumes, looking all dramatic, (sorry GaGa) or shaking

his ass (Sorry Beyonce), he relied on pure talent. And that is what sets him

apart from all these wannabes. Beyonce always talks about her "work ethic"

but in reality - she has "marketing ethic" - she cares more about being a hussy

on stage, and marketing all his sham products, then performing. I saw an interview

with Beyonce recently, and the interviewer kinda put her down for being too trashy

on stage, and she just laughed and smiled. Makes me sick.

I really hope this whole industry changes in ten years, cus how it has been since

about 1998 has really sucked hard. With Michael's passing, it just makes things even

worse.

May this performance live on as a way to remind people of MTV, when it was still

actually fun and entertaining.

Yeah ok, and the ability to dance and not look like a cheap hooker like Beyonce,

and have fun with what he is doing, instead of just trying to manipulate the crowd

to believe you are something you aren't like GaGa. People try way too hard lately

to make fans/audiences believe in their own hype. It's so lame-o.

You're right, he didn't look like a hooker. He was about as un-sexual as it got.

I was 16 when the '95 VMAs aired and I remember us talking about MJ's performance all week in school. I even remember my algebra II teacher telling us how much of a fan she was and how exciting the performance was. It truly was like watching THE MASTER at work again. It was EVENT televison and I watched it as it happened. He absolutely set that stage afire!!

Thank you for posting that dreamfactory313!

I love reading that. It is so cool to hear someone respond to it who remembers it

at an age that they could be aware of how fantastic it was around peers and others outside

of family.

I still say that performance is up there with Motown 25 and all those

other iconic performances of music/tv history. Still to this day, I can watch that entire thing

and not get bored.

Hell, I was 5 when MJ did that performance, and I still remember it all clearly. He was on stage for like half an hour and it was just hit after hit after hit, bloody amazing performance, lipped or not.
