Bryan Adams Opinions On Him... LOl, ok this will sound quite strange... but i have a love/hate relationship with the guys music sometimes i like it sometimes i don't lol, sometimes i really dig it sometimes i think it's cheesy and over the top.
I Got Reckless in 10th grade which was in 06/07 for me and i liked it from One night Love Affair To Heaven to she's only happy when she's dancing i dug it
I Went through two faces that year the first was my ''piano'' men of Ray Charles. Little Richard, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Billy Joel where constantly in my rotation.
Then it became Springsteen, Mellencamp then Bryan Adams
Years later revisiting Reckless & Waking Up The Neighbors... i am mixed it depends i kind of like it kind of don't, there's no doubt the guys talented! but i feel he tries to hard to be a Springsteen or Mellencamp at times this could just be ME
What does everyone else think of the guy?
He get's dissed on a lot which i find cruel cause in the end he is a talented guy Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I like alot of his earlier stuff, but around the time of the "Robin Hood" movie it just became too bland and syrupy. * * *

Summer of 69 was okay, for what it was.
He was proficient for a time at churning out saccharine, inoffensive pop-rock songs, must admit, that Robin Hood song got on me nerves after a few months at number 1.

His peak were the 83-85 years (Cuts Like a Knife & Reckless), solid heartland rock albums, just as good as Mellencamp and 84-88 Springsteen,...yeah, Bryan certainly didn't release something as respectable as Born in the USA (the song), but Run to You and Heaven certainly murder Glory Days and Dancin' in the Dark...
after that his career has been pretty crappy, Into the Fire (1988) was booooooooring and then came the Robin Hood ballad which was catchy but cheesy as hell; after that the only track I still dig from him is "The Only Thing that Looks Good On Me Is You" (1996)...his 00s albums are awful ... Nothing wrong with Bryan Adams. He had some great songs in the 80s.I have a 'Best Of' CD by him.My favorites are "Cuts Like A Knife","Run To You","Heaven" and "Straight From The Heart".I even like his 1979 disco single "Let Me Take You Dancing" which he would probably like to forget, lol.

I've always like Bryan Adams. I prefer his rockers over his ballads though.

I agree he was "of a time" and that his Greatest Hits CD is actually pretty damn enjoyable if you lived through those years. I do own it, but I'm not actually a big fan. Wouldn't pay to see him live or buy a new album.

Cuts Like a Knife and Reckless are his best albums, the rest is ok for people loving cheesy ballads

Well, I can say that Bryan is still an animal on stage...his 00s albums sold poorly, ... but his 00s worlwide tours have been pretty successful...

He's great in concert, I agree. I caught a show with him and Def Leppard several years back that was really good. Also saw him in the 90's at MSG.

Of course, in Canada, I don't really need a copy of any of these songs because they are still played often enough.
I still hear "Let Me Take You Dancing" on the radio every once in a while!

Some interesting reading from the producer, and wikipedia, about Bryan's first single, remixed for disco.

I remember one hot summer he played in my hometown, at my local football club stadium, inconveniantly i had to close my windows to shut that awful sound pollution out. Had the same misfortune with another bunch of cunts called Bon Jovi too. Just awful.

I like a few of his songs, particularly "Summer of '69," "Can't Stop This Thing We Started," "Heaven," and "Everything I Do..." (and I'm going to pretend you didn't say you were 2 when that came out!). I also enjoy the cheesefest that is "All for Love," but my favorite is definitely "Cuts Like a Knife." Bryan Adams is one of those artists like Richard Marx or Barry Manilow or Air Supply that people say they despise and then when you mention songs by them their like "oh i love that one, i love that one and that one too"
However i dont get the whole "Mellencamp" comparison? Im not hearing it in eithers music, maybe one song like a Summer of 69, but still i think thats something that John would never do, hes a little too heartland and Bryan is more "ballady" [Edited 9/5/10 21:03pm] "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
