Amanda Lear Does anyone know of her of like her, she released a series of Disco albums in the late 70s with names like Diamonds for Breakfast, Sweet Revenge, Never trust a pretty face and I am a Photograph.
Her voice was quite campy and breathy and she sang songs with a very English as a second language lyrics "Why don't you check out your bags and run" She was a 6 foot tall blond who was like the Caucasian version of Grace Jones. Rumours had it that she was actually a man whose real name was Alain Tapp.
What do you all think of him/her/it? So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

The biggest bimbo/model/groupie/muse of the british glam scene of the early-70s. All the bi or straight stars of the era (Eno, Ferry, Bowie, Manzanera) wanted to bang her (some of them did it)... Never sure if she was actually a man, though
And yeah, you could define her as the "white, 70s version" of Grace Jones
Strange beauty, strange body, strange face but certainly sexy; for me, the pinnacle of her "career" was the immortal cover of "For Your Pleasure" (1973)

I remember Run Baby Run
And that she was Dali's friend and often on Spanish TV at the time. Maybe because ot that
Grace Jones was Callas compared to Amanda

This is how I discovered her, I noticed this weird Italian show called Styrx, it also had Grace Jones on it singing Fame and Do or Die. How can you not love her campy breathy voice and that dancing. She was classic.
I aso watched Follow Me, Gold and Queen of Chinatown (Which was quite good as well). So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Go to YouTube and look for the David Bowie cover of "Sorrow".
That was my introduction to Ms. Lear. Still not sure about her background though. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

The 1980 Floor Show (a pun on the song "1984" - 19-Eighty-Floor) was the first appearance of David Bowie since his much publicised retirement on 3 July 1973 at the Hammersmith Odeon. It was also to be his last appearance as "Ziggy Stardust". The show itself was a spectacular stage production that was filmed over 3 days, mostly at The Marquee Club, Soho, London for the American NBC TV late night show The Midnight Special.
(...)
"Sorrow" was filmed in the studio with Bowie dressed in a white suit singing to Amanda Lear, who with a pole manipulated string-costumed figures on a giant chessboard.

That video was Iconic, Amanda could be a star by just standing there and smiling. Was the girl on saxophone Davids Black girlfriend at the time Ava Cherry. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time
