Oh no! Annie Lennox appears to have lost her mind Let me say first and foremost that I am a massive fan of Miss Lennox. She was my avatar for a long, long time at one point, and Eurythmics are one of the very select few artists that ever threaten to dethrone Prince as my favorite. Annie's solo career has also been pretty wonderful, with Diva and Bare ranking among my very favorite albums.
And so I was eager with anticipation when I heard she was recording a new album for release later this year... until the details were made available.
It's going to be a collection of Christmas carols, which is a bit disappointing, but not necessarily a dealbreaker. However, she plans on calling it...
A Christmas Cornucopia
....
What the heck?!
OK, it's Annie Lennox! She's entitled to a record a Christmas album with a questionable title!
Then I saw the image on her website that I'm assuming will be the album cover.

That image is so haunting, and yet beautiful. I bet it will be an amazing album. But if when you say 'Annie Lennox appears to have lost her mind' you mean; "Annie Lennox is crazy like a fox", then I may tend to agree. An Annie Lennox Christmas album would be a big seller I'd bet, and would probably put Enya's to shame. I'd buy it without hearing the first note.

You can sort of read that as,
"corn-y-copia"
I suspect she has her tongue planted in her cheek.

She used to be great but she started to appear at too many charity shows acting humbled with her big doe eyes... HIV, Mandela, Africa, Homelessness. Any worthy cause and she would be there acting all "Mother Teresa" on us.
Recent tv appearances show her as a middle aged lady desperately trying to be hip like an embarrassing drunken grandma at a family party... I now refer to her as GRANNY Lennox

I know what you mean.
She's become a bit of an embarassment.

I pray that the picture is tongue-in-cheek, but I have a devastating feeling that it's not.
I'll still buy the album, but I'm a bit worried. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I was just thinking the same thing. Something Julie andrews -like. Was trying to find it online just now, but haven't found it yet.

It should be more so about a singer's voice and whether or not you like the songs. Not what their album cover might look like or what the title of the cd or song is. Priorities, man! LOL. Annie has always been a bit outside the norm in some way where creativity is concerned. [Edited 8/25/10 3:18am]

Oh, I agree! I will happily listen to the album and make my mind up about its contents. She is one of my all-time favorites after all. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I love how the image looks so Turner-esque, like a classic B&W picture that was colorized. I like how the spot-color sort of bleeds and runs; a color scheme that was obviously chosen to resemble and old style Christmas. This image seems to me to be every bit as "edgy" as the stuff she did with The Eurythmics. Although it seems I'm in the minority, I have no doubt that an Annie Lennox Christmas album will be an instant classic.

We'll buy it anyway.
I'm right there with you on the Eurythmics being one of the very few to come close to Prince as a favorite of mine. We might have had this discussion on a Eurythmics thread before.

Cover reminds me of a Christmas card from the 40's/50's....a time when there was felt to feel on the front...
