Harlepolis

I'm still trying to get her biography.

The small portion from Donald Bogle's "Brown Sugar" left me hungry for more lol

I loved the KKK story, Bessie was the wrong one to be fucked with.

I thought so. Sylvester remade it back when he was in The Hot Band. He sang that song just like he was a woman up in a juke joint...."25 cents, 25 cents". lol I saw her name in the credits and remembered it.

Yep, some people you just don't mess with . . . don't allow gender get your butt kicked, stabbed, or shot. In Bessie case, she probably do all 3. lol

I love slow jams. I only like slow jams from the 1970s and early 1980s though. They just have a different feel to them than the late 1980s to today slow songs which sound like adult contemporary. And yes, his version of "Lover Man (Where Can You Be)" is a killer slow jam and a very bold move for that era.
