Blondie have revealed that they will release a new album called Panic Of Girls in 2011.
Initially due out just in Australia this November, the follow-up to 2003's The Curse Of Blondie will be released in the UK and the US next year. "We tried to make the recording process as organic as possible," drummer Clem Burke stated. "[We] tried to stay away from programming as much as we could, because ['he Curse Of Blondie] had a lot of programming on it. So in the spirit of Woodstock, we kept going in the studio and playing." The group have been previewing a few songs live recently including 'What I Heard', 'The End' and 'Mother', with Burke admitting that the audience have been reacting well to the new tracks in their set. "We've been getting a great reception with the new material," he explained. "We're doing about five or six of them in the show, which is kind of difficult for people, hearing new material for the first time at a show. But we've been doing really well with it."

Finally it's coming! I've been waiting for this new album for some time. I adored The Curse of Blondie- I thought it was a much better album than No Exit. Oh shit, a new album??!!
No Exit was crappy, and The Curse of Blonde had some great tracks here and there, but Debbie's voice sucked through and through...
Not sure if a new album is such a good idea...

I've heard new live versions of some of the new Blondie songs and they're really good. I can't wait for the new album. I'm seeing Blondie live on Friday night and I can't wait.

Really? I thought she sounded great on "Maria".

Yeah yeah, her voice was perfectly fine in No Exit
but the next album, The Curse of Blondie, showed her age, I also think that the world tour supporting No Exit truly damaged her voice...

yeah i agree too, i think the thing is that people will always feelthat they are gonna get the artist 30 years ago and feel the same way again, its just not going to happen for anything that way, cant turn back the clock, but i think the key is in the recording of the record, not so much her vocals, you need to put the limitations that you had then on now, and go on that. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Her voice may not have been stellar on The Curse of Blondie, but the album was so interesting and strange that it felt like a true return to form for them. Oh yeah, it was their best since 1979's Eat to the Beat, even if it lacked strong 80s singles like Rapture...
