I own Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son. The rest of their albums bore to hell out of me (including their supposedly best album, Number of the Beast, which I hate-hate-hate with a passion...)

Their post-Seventh Son stuff is dreadful in my eyes; Brave New World was a nice comeback, but the rest of their 00s albums disappointed me, specially the overrated A Matter of Life and Death. Bruce Dickinson's solo albums are like 10000 times better than anything Maiden released in the 90s or the 00s...

So, I'm not even mildly excited about Final Frontier, with those 8:35 songs, the clean sound and the overall lack of new rapidfire classics...

True that Bruce Dickinson's solo albums are awesome, especially Accident of Birth & Chemical Wedding. But unfortunately your other opinions are worth shit here. "A Matter of Life & Death" is one of Maiden's BEST albums... maybe you should try listening to it more than once for fuck's sake! And yeah, Brave New World was awesome, especially coming back with 3 lead guitarists -- a first for Maiden. BUT, A Matter of Life & Death is a much better album musically & lyrically. And, I'm willing to bet [Bait snip - luv4u] that you will agree that Final Frontier will be much better than anything that other so-called metal bands of today have released!

Number of the Beast and Seventh Son are my favorites. I like scattered tracks from the "comeback" albums, but overall none of them really knocked me out. One problem is that "Dance of Death" and "A Matter of Life and Death" in particular are hampered by terrible sound/production. Both are just murky messes. "Dance of Death" sounds so awful that I actually took the CD back to the store thinking it had to be defective. That said, there are still some worthwhile things on them.

I would agree though that Bruce's 2 best solo albums - "Accident of Birth" and "The Chemical Wedding" - are more solid overall than any of the Maiden comeback albums.

I'm a huge Piece of Mind fan, and I love the better songs on Powerslave.

looks like many have given up on maiden 2000 onwards. the latest album seems to drift towards dream theater musically...

Final track when the wild wind blows is amazing
