I've loved Lalah's music since "Heaven Knows" and "I've Gotta Move On". Love and heartbreak all in one sound just like her pops Donny. lol The coolest thing is that like Joan Armatrading, Rachelle Ferelle, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Tracy Chapman, and Seal, she's so diverse she pissed off the labels 'cause they couldn't put her in one box. And it all meant she had no other choice but to do exactly what she wanted. Her music her way.

And Lalah's way is the best way for those that take the time to listen.

A lot of people that aren't tuned in to Lalah is looking for a gimmick

and she's not gonna give you that shit. She's a true artist. I really

dig her last project Self Portrait and i appreciated it even more when

i took the time to listen to each song instead of just skimming through

the album and judging it off a fringe listen. I also love her 2005 album

Run to the Sky.

Well said phunkdaddy. nod

Lalah hasn't made not ONE bad album and still the sister hasn't recieved the play nor the accolades she so richly deserves. Welcome to an industry that's been willing to promote flash over substance and an listening audience who appear not to be able to tell the difference between the two.

It's come to that neutral

Not in the mood to hear the usual rant against the industry... commercial mainstream bullshit will always rule the airwaves. But I love her and her rich contralto that gives Toni Braxton a run for her fucking money. I became a fan after I heard her "Forever, For Always, For Love" and I couldn't believe how great her interpretation was. Exquisite. I enjoyed her tour with Rahsaan who I'm a HUGE fan of. smile

She wasn't ranting though. It seems(at least to me) that she came to terms with the industry's fickle wishy washy attitude and she'll keep doing her thing, regardless.

Well I didn't watch so I'll take your word for it. Still I'm tired of people asking real artists the same tired question. The answer will not deviate, I promise. lol lol

Is this the industry where the suites are whining about low record sales? Yeah, we know it's because of illegal downloads. The product they push couldn't be the reason for declined in revenue, nah ? ohgoon
