MJ - Dangerous, U2- Achtung Baby Does anyone know of any plans for a 20th anniversary edition of either of these albums? We're here, might as well get into it.

wikipedia
artist's site.
Was there a 20th for Thriller? 25 yes.
for Off The Wall? For Bad? Nope. History is the best indicator of future behavior.

Probably not for Dangerous although (slightly off topic), there will be deluxe editions for Off The Wall and Bad being released next year and 2012 "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

i would assume Achtung Baby will get done eventually. They seem to be working in a generally chronological fashion w/ their reissues (although they did start with Joshua Tree). Rattle and Hum and Achtung Baby would seem to be the next 2, and there is definitely a wealth of extra material to include. * * *

Dangerous should get something, because the 2001 remaster didn't have any bonus stuff. However, some of it appeared on The Ultimate Collection and it's not really considered as a "classic" MJ album so it might not get a revamp.

1) The disk is too long to put anything extra on, without adding a 2nd disk, which wouldn't be financially (or otherwise) viable.
2) It's not considered that to you, however, Dangerous is an extraordinary album packed with hits, and even more that should have been released as singles. It was another huge album for MJ.
3) Remasters are just for "classic" albums. It's for a back catalog in general, to preserve the sound of the record, and the record itself.
4) There's $$$$$ to be made from putting anything MJ out (like this November when a disk of new songs is due to hit stores).

^ Yup Dangerous was a HUGE album and still is really, every song on it is just awesome. Also to add to that, there is still tons of Dangerous Outtakes out there that haven't been officially released.
Here's one that not many have heard I believe.

The 2001 remaster was to to include a second disc BUT a certain someone decided to scrap it "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

A 2CD Special Edition of Achtung Baby, remastered, with the B-Sides/unreleased material of the era, plus expanded CD artwork would be a necessary act of charity for the WHOLE HUMAN RACE...

If they could do it for October, lord knows one is due for Achtung Baby

I would definately consider "Dangerous" a classic album, if "Off The Wall" and "Bad" are going to get a Delux edition and they already had bonus material from the 2001 remaster, then surely Dangerous deserves one aswell, i thought it was generally considered to be a stronger album than "Bad" in any case?.
Wouldn't mind a "Zooropa" deluxe edition either, that might be dreaming though:lol: . We're here, might as well get into it.

Actually it's one of my favs, but outside "Black or White" it's totally downplayed by the media. None of its other singles were huge chart hits and I believe none of them get substantial recurrent airplay. It was a big hit but we all know the end of the era was the start of MJ's downfall in the public's eye. Also, on best of lists it never appears next to OTW or Thriller, not to mention a LOT of people keep saying MJ lost it after leaving Quincy. So no, it's hardly a classic album.
