Heck yeah I've seen it, many many times. I grew up on Breakin' and Breakin' 2, both of which I feel are the best of the 80s hip-hop films. I know most people prefer Beat Street or Krush Groove, but neither of those films have the sunny, postive aspect, excellent dance sequences or kick-ass soundtrack that the Breakin' films have. LONG LIVE T.K.O.!!!!!!!!!!! "Get up off that grey line"

This movie is a masterpiece! Love it. Love the soundtrack and the casting couldn't be better! Where are TKO now??

Both Breakin's are classic IMO, I used to watch them all the time when I was a little kid in the 80's. Taped them on Beta-Max, me and my sis wore that tape out, thank goodness for DVD, lol!!

LOVE IT.
Turbo (Michael Chambers) is my favorite character:

I've always thought he was a much better dancer than Ozone, and had some of the most beautiful eyebrows. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

I knew Turbo back in the day (early 80's), when we lived a few blocks from each other in Hollywood. He was very, very serious about his dancing, even when not on camera. Even before those movies came out and before he was well known, he used to spend most of his day with his Boom Box, dancing on the corner of Hollywood & Highland, or near Cahuenga. I wonder what he's up to today (as well as so many friends I've long since lost touch with over the years).

From what I read on his site, he's working a documentary about his life. He did an interview with People Magazine last year to talk about MJ "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I grew up on this movie. Kelly sucked.
I loved Shrimp with the broom and 'Tour De France' by Kraftwerk. great scene and great tune.
Also liked 'Boogie Down' by Al Jarreau. Another great tune.

I also just located his MySpace page after having seen this thread. His page gives the impression he's still fairly active, think I'll write to him and see if he remembers me. Hollywood was such a tight-knit community back then (may still be, just haven't lived there in a number of years).

I have this set I think 'Beat Street' is the superior film.

A lot of people do, because it has a grittier, more authentically hip-hop feel. But, to me, the music and dancing aren't nearly as good. "Get up off that grey line"

I liked Breakin... but the best dancing was shown in the documentary Breakin and Enterin...

I can barely make it through that film A lousy, lousy sequel. The only thing I like about this movie is the theme song "Electric Boogaloo" by Ollie and Jerry.

I didn't like Beat Street at all. The dance sequences were fun, but the rest sucked imo. It tried to take itself too seriously. It was just all over the place with the story.
Might have worked better just as a documentary.

speaking of 'Beat Street',the soundtrack is EXCELLENT.I think it puts the 'Breakin' soundtrack to shame. One of my favorite songs is "Beat Street Strut" by Juicy. The video is hilarious and fun...perfectly capturing the breakdancing phenomenon. This video takes you right back to 1984,lol.It's a shame that the song was barely heard in the film.

^^ This.
Did anyone catch this?
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I'm sorry. I respect your opinion and all, but when you put Beat Street Strut up against these, it loses every time.

I love the whole "concept" of these dance battles... even though there's no fight... somehow at the end, the winner or loser is settled:
It's great how serious they take it. That's the charm of it.

Soul, imma fight you over Breakin' 2...and Grease 2 also, but that's a differnt thread. Okay I admit I hated Breakin 2 at first also, but my sister loved it and watched it 1,000,000 times, so it grew on me afterwhile. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Some sequels are just unnecessary the producers of 'Beat Street' wisely avoided making a sequel because they didn't need one.The first movie was enough.
The first 'Breakin' movie is down to earth and alot of fun,but the sequel is ridiculous, especially the absurd musical number that takes place in a hospital! with dancing nurses?! This movie is what killed the entire breakdancing culture.
