Vanity giving up music for God

I never bothered looking her up till now. I find her interesting and learned about Vanity 6 other than just knowing they were Prince proteges that sang Nasty Girl.

I read about her almost losing her life too, but it makes me scared thinking that being into music and all that is sinful though it really isn't because of her spiritual experience. Maybe she just meant Vanity persona as in stopping the sexy act and all that.

glad she found a way out of the misery she was in... she almost died from drugs.

I believe her "religious conversion" happened in the mid-1990's.

Couldn't you just not make dirty music instead?

It wasn't the music that ruined her, it was the drugs. Drugs and music don't mix.

but lets be honest, she wasnt in "music" like it was her choice or path, she was brought into it by Prince, the lifestyle and having money wasnt good for her addictive personality, but nothing she was doing was gonna have lasting music effect musically because of "her". i think we praise her like she was a "creator" rather than a "Creation".

Drugs, sex, money, exploiting her body...

Generally speaking, Satan can be the one to blame for the many evils that drained her soul.

But in no way was he strong enough to RUIN her with the way Jesus has worked refilling her life & mission! The woman's more alive today than she has ever been.

Music itself is not sinful,

Psalm 150
Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.

Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,

Praise him with tambourine and dancing,
Praise him with the strings and flute,

Praise him with the clash of cymbals,
Praise him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.

-----------------

Notice how all those lines are bringing music straight to the divine purpose of the Lord. The problem with the way Vanity was going was that she was in the business with all the wrong motives. Had she known God before, her life would have had seemless beauty.

Problem with Vanity is she wasn't in it for the music, she was in it because Prince basically pulled her strings. Vanity didn't wanna be in show business like that. I'm sure she wanted to be a model or something like that. She was never ever gonna do gospel music as we could see she hasn't.

Yeah, plus she was not saved at the time either and from what I read she was originally attached to Rick before moving on to Prince, correct?

Moreover, she never did have the talent and discipline to sustain a show biz career IMO. Modeling may have suited her better. I'm sorry that it took her almost losing her life to get clean but I am glad that she is alive and well today.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.
