Roxette's Look Sharp!

Isn't this one of the best debut albums ever? It's one of those you can listen to all the way through and it pumps you up. And the ballad Listen To Your Heart always makes me cry, especially when the key changes.

i used to have this cd when it was first released and listened to it over and over again

on my cd player in my room, lol.

haven't heard it in, i'm guessing about 20 years, right? still remember most of those

melodies. i think i'm gonna see if i can track it down somewhere.

Love Roxette. I actually prefer Joyride, think it fits that description better. Regardless, I think Roxette is one of the best, most under-rated bands ever.

I love Roxette and Look Sharp!. It isn't their debut though- Pearls of Passion from 1986 is.

I also quite like Have a Nice Day from 1999.

I think they are really talented etc.., but I can't get into their "Joyride" and "look sharp!" albums. I may try them again, but "Joyride" inparticular had alot of filler to me. They make decent high tech AOR/pop but they are nothing that special to me, which is surprising as I love the sort of music they do LOL. "The look" is pretty awful which again surprises me as I love that cheesy high tech pop/AOR usually. Even worse is "Listen to your heart". Awful song LOL.

I do love their 2 songs for soundtracks though. "It must of been love" is overplayed but is still a lovely pop song. Well produced and well mixed. I also love "Almost unreal" from the Super Mario movie. Lovely song again.

Joyride does have a lot of filler, particularly in the second half. I think Look Sharp! is pretty flawless though. I also adore "Almost Unreal"- one of their overlooked gems!

I'd rank their albums this way:

1. Look Sharp!

2. Have a Nice Day

3. Crash! Boom! Bang!

4. Joyride

5. Room Service

6. Pearls of Passion

I won't count Tourism because it's a hodgepodge release of studio tracks and live cuts, many of which aren't new.

This is the only Roxette album i own and do love it. Great hook-filled pop.

However, it's like sugar-filled pop, too much and I get sick.
