When I think about, it was a damn shame when you had to flip to white radio to get good black music because the black stations were playing the most slowest and dullest shit with no rhythm I had ever heard in my life that practically never got past midtempo. I mean hell, wasn't it black folks that put rhythm in music to begin with? What the hell happened here? Role reversal or something? lol

Ouch! biggrin

Good point, I'm glad u mentioned it in this thread, because I was about to start a thread asking this same question.

Often, I've wondered while watching the various I Love the "whatever decade" on VH1 and esp. while watching the "Black to the Future" special...why do I have to watch VH1 to see this?

Can't the person who is in charge of programming at BET, go into its Video Soul, Video Vibrations, and Midnight Love archives?

Apparently the song of this summer is either Taio Cruz's Dynamite, the Eminem & Rihanna collabo or the Usher/Pitbull collabo or if u are in Europe the Yolanda Be Cool song...

there is good music just it is outside the charts. Personally I like the latest by Lissie, SIA, Pendulum, Big Boi, Eliza Dolittle, Diana Vickers, Godsmack and Devo quite a lot... But if you're looking for a Hot 100 hit... well good luck... The Mike Posner and DJ Khaled songs ain't bad and yeah there is always 'Alejandro' lol

PS and I completely forgot that this thread is for R&B/Hip-Hop.... sorry

Gaga is the only ok one right now continuing to release songs. Didn't like Alejandro much though the others are cool. And Janelle Monae has talent.

Yes, it is.

I think 2003 was the last year of good R&B and Hip-Hop summer jams. Then Usher took over radio with that horrible 'Confessions' song. Ugh!

R&B has been fucked up for damn near 20 years, all year long, not just in the summertime.

Yeah, ^^'s about right...

• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Ceelo Green Mix tape

Cee Lo's Stray Bullets mix tape is about the best thing I have heard in ages. I think it is simply brilliant.

Can't wait for his official album release.

Also, K-os is releasing his mixtape this Friday. I am sure that it will be great too.

I sure do. That's exactly why I bitch about today's music being a bunch of bullshit all the time and would love to see shit hop and neo stool die a painful death. I would love to see actual jams become the mainstream again. Yeah, I get tired of always having to pull something old in order to hear some good music. That's why I bitch because I want new music but I only want good new music, not a bunch of boring bullshit.

and some of the worst "flops" from the catalog of a true artist is still betta than hot garbage from tomorrow. I've found that it is way more rewarding to explore some of that stuff.
