YEESSSSSSSSS! I touched on this in my post too. 1984 was easily my best summer too. It had such great memories and music to go with every mood. But don't forget Van Halen, Duran Duran, Madonna, Huey Lewis and the News, you know that "white" music that we got exposed to due to the humble beginnings of the music video. A good song was a good song, it didn't matter the race of the performer. Oh how times have changed.

Rick Ross' Super High & Sweet Life along with T.I's Takers have been my hip hop jams. I'm liking Power and REVOFEV too.

I dropped radio stations that play current music in 1997. I hated it since around 1992 or 1993 but I just had current radio on because there was nothing else. The music I loved during that era was in the gay clubs but the majority of it wasn't played on the radio.

Actually during the era of 1992 until 1997, as far as radio goes, I spent a lot of time switching the station over to white pop radio which was playing several of the black dance/house jams. When I think about, it was a damn shame when you had to flip to white radio to get good black music because the black stations were playing the most slowest and dullest shit with no rhythm I had ever heard in my life that practically never got past midtempo. I mean hell, wasn't it black folks that put rhythm in music to begin with? What the hell happened here? Role reversal or something?

Anyway, in 1997, we got our first R&B oldies station (oldies as in 1970s and 1980s as opposed to 1950s oldies stations which were the only ones that existed prior to this station). I took those damn mainstream R&B stations off my dial and never looked back. As for the white stations that had been playing some of the dance/house type music, well, that type of music was becoming more and more "acid" and "trance" sounding (black artists were beginning to abandon the genre so all the funkiness was leaving it) so I dropped the white stations too.

I liked disco for the most part. House music was something that I just couldn't get into...esp. those dumb as hell house remixes. But to each his own..you liked that and I liked neo-soul. Yet, the point remains, there are no song that has qualified as the summer song of '10. I suggest that everyone stop looking for one and revisit the songs in your music collection. Thankfully, I have my oldies but goodies to lean on.
