a-ha reunite.....with first video director, for last music video "Butterfly"..(update) a-ha charts in America things happen quickly and a-ha assembled a team very quickly at some secret spots in the UK for a quick video shoot 4 days prior to starting the final leg (60date) european portion of their last tour. Steve Barron was called in to do the last a-ha music video....with good reason, he did the first one that launched them into every country, article below
Steve Barron directs final a-ha videoJuly 12, 2010
Paul is using a G-Sharp guitar in the video.
a-ha have teamed up with director Steve Barron one last time, to make the music video for the final a-ha single "Butterfly, Butterfly (The Last Hurrah)". This was revealed on the a-ha.com Twitter page today, where various pictures from the video shoot have been posted. Apparently the video is being shot somewhere in the UK. Steve Barron directed seven music videos for "I liked working with a-ha. I actually met them in New York last year. At that point I hadn't seen them for 15 years. Magne hinted that they could be interested in doing some more work with me, but nothing was decided", Barron said in a 2006 interview. Five years after that meeting in New York, Barron is back in the director's chair and a-ha's history of music videos now seems to have come full circle.
No set release date for the video but she be expected in August as the "25" 2cd set is released in Norway then in September for the rest of the Europe.

it varies in countries, its out in Norway as a digital single, the cd will be out there August 6th. Germany then gets the single in later August and the UK gets in mid September as a physical cd single and download also, the German version of the Best of will be out in mid September and in mid October in the UK, the Japense Version has no date yet but will have slightly different tracks, the band is letting fans pick 3 songs they want on the cd set. The US wont have any form of release other than the RHINO.COM deluxe versions of their first two cds which have just arrived for those who ordered them. yeah me too, ironically got them Friday in the mail, the same day i got Prince's album over the net. The a-ha editions are very interesting, alot of strange versions of songs, alot never heard before, great hearing those 12" mixes nnow that the vinyl is long out of print, great job with getting good sound on some of the demos that needed it. One interesting thing on the "Scoundrel Days" demo is Morten changing a line to "i run the streets through" it got changed on the album however in concert he sings it with the "demo" line constantly.
The best story is the "take on me" story of how a-ha wanted a new producer for the song, they didnt like the first version so a-ha pushed for another version and producer, and got it, not only that, WB liked the new version so much, they let a-ha do anoter song for the debut album prior to releasing it, and that song was "the sun always shines on tv" which was NOT going to make the album first time around "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

a-ha has charted in the USA for the first time since "bubbling under" in 1993 at #111 with "dark is the Night" and chart wise their "Stay on these Roads" album was their last entry in 1988. BUT with the re-issues of their first two CD's through Rhino.Com a-ha have hit the "internet sales" charts at 34 and 36, the latter for "scoundrel days" is hhigher than its 1986 peak. And one label rep for WB said "we dropped the ball on this one this should have been in stores in America" and Universal is re-considering issuing the "25" cd in America now which is out on July 19th in Norway and Europe on August 6th and the UK in October, the Japanese version will have 42 tracks (3 more than the other versions) [Edited 7/18/10 17:18pm] "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
