Tawatha

I just ordered a CD copy of Tawatha's 1987 R&B classic - WELCOME TO MY DREAM. I have the casseete from back in the day but wanted the new expanded edition with the 12" of "Are You Serious" and the "Thigh Ride" dub. I ordered it from Amazon. Can't wait to get it.

Mighty Tee!

One of my FAVE "vocalists" and I don't throw that word loosely.

I just wish the stuff she did with Angela Winbush during their group "Hot Tea" surface.

I've yet to order the remastered version though, but I will nod its a shame she didn't continue her solo career, but I understand that the session vocalists field more stable(esp considering the state of music today).

Yeah that "Hot Tea" stuff sounds really interesting to me. Tawatha says she has a cassette tape of some of the groups songs buried in a crate somewhere.

I ordered Twatha's CD a few months ago. I'd never heard anything off of it. I must say that I was not impressed. I really like her voice but the material she was working with sucked.

I have been really loving Mtume lately, as I just got my copy of In Search of the Rainbow Seekers in the mail. I'm interested in Tawatha's solo material as well, but first I have to track down the other 3 Mtume albums I don't have (Rebirth Cycle, Kiss This World Goodbye and Theater of the Mind).

Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

She appears with Aretha Franklin a lot of times when the veteran r&b songstress does tv and special events in the NY area. She was recently with Aretha when Franklin was doing the rounds for her Xmas album.

I love all of the music from Tawatha's WELCOME TO MY DREAM. I literally wore the cassette out when I was in 8th grade. I can't wait to get the new re-issued CD in the mail.
