Aaliyah's death I often wondered why ever since she died why in the world her crew loaded so much equipment on a plane that could not hold that much weight...even against the warning's of the airline staff. There was even the total number of people on board of the plane was one more extra than the plane could hold. If only they would have waited the next day to leave on a plane that could accommodate them safely, maybe she would still be with us today. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I believe they were trying to hit deadlines and save money. If only we had a time machine: We'd either have a perfect world, or a much more chaotic one. I guess everything happens for a reason. May Aaliyah be resting peacefully, with no cares from this world.

I thought i read where she wanted to leave a day earlier to be with Damien Dash. If that's the case it's sad because she may have still been with us if her and the crew would have waited a day to return to the states. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

This is true. She wanted to leave a day early because she was tired and wanted to go home to be with Dame. The plane that they were on was supposed to be for the luggage only. I don't know why they all got on it. Her brother was supposed to be on the plane too, but he chose to stay behind.

I wish he would have convinced her to stay behind or some other people...somebody!!! But who knows, I wasn't there, he might have tried to convince her to stay but not thinking anything of it, she left anyway. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

He did. He told her to stay, but she still went. She used to tell him how much she hated flying in small planes. Before she left, she told him "whatever happens, happens"

Her brother was not with her in the Bahamas. It was the first trip she had ever taken without her family around. Thaat's why a close family friend, Keith I think, was with her instead.
Greed won out over safety. The pilot was incompetent and doing drugs. The plane company did not do their job to insist that the plane was loaded properly. If I go to an airport with 3 bags and only 1 can go on the plane with me, they make me check the other 2 bags. It's not the passengers who should have control over the plane or the pilot's decisions.
Greed over safety! Causes planes to fall out of skies, causes oil to gush out in oceans, causes chronic issues in this world every single day. This is why people should work on honesty and insisting on doing their jobs properly. The customer is NOT always right!!

If fate had played different cards and 'Liyah chose to stay in the Bahamas for that extra day we wouldn't be here discussing her death.

I stand corrected. I was getting mixed up with their trip to Australia

I read that the Airline settled out of court for the wrongful death case and admitted that Aaliyah was unaware of the weight issues. It was disgusting how immediately after the crash the airline tried to paint Aaliyah and her staff as divas, they quickly shut up when the autopsy of the pilot was released though.

She also said to some German magazine that she had a recurring dream ""Suddenly, I lift off. Faraway. How do I feel? As if I am swimming in the air. Free. Weightless. Nobody can reach me. Nobody can touch me. It's a wonderful feeling". (From Wiki)

Sad, i hate when deaths occur because of someone's lack of judgement. I always thought aaliyah and her crew knew the plane was over weight capacity. "we make our heroes in America only to destroy them"

But it wouldn't matter. Even though they brought too much stuff, they should have been told it was too much and too many people and the company should have refused to fly them or refused to take their stuff. And if they said....if you overload this plane you may die, I'm sure most people are going to be like, never mind. It's not as if there weren't more crew still on the island they could have left the stuff with. It was pure greed and deceit on the part of the charter plane company, which was also evident by the fact the pilot was not properly trained, licensed, and evidently had been doing hard drugs and drinking hours before being assigned the flight. Terrible situation and a terrible loss.

Really sad-if she had lived we'd be saying Beyonce who? Loved her

Not Beyonce. It would be Ciara who would not have become famous. She is the one who I always believed was chosen to, kinda, well, become Aaliyah's replacement in the industry, as horrible as that sounds. Ciara's styles, from the very beginning of her career, have been eerily almost identical to Aaliyah's.
Beyonce just would have been Aaliyah's main competition on the charts, but would still be the major star she has become, since they're so different.

The pilot was under the influence (don't recall if it was drugs and alcohol or just one) [Edited 7/14/10 20:51pm]

Does anyone remember that R.Kelly's sex tape was released soon after her death? It's sad that she died, but if she were alive, I'm sure that she would've been dragged into that mess somehow. I always thought it was interesting that she died right before that whole thing happened.

Well it's true. The media AND law enforcement probably would've given Aaliyah a hard time if she were alive when R.Kelly was arrested. If she were alive, the public scrutiny would've made her miserable. It might have even hurt her career. I'm not glad that she died. What happened to her and those other people was messed up. I never posted that in my message, so get off your uppity, self-righteous high horses. My point is that Aaliyah and her family didn't have to deal with public scrutiny when Chester the Molester was convicted, so that was a good thing. I also think it's strange that she died right before that happened.

So you're implying there's something behind her death? Like a conspiracy? THAT is what I was eye rolling at.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I didn't post that in my message either, so the answer is no. I just think that's kind of eerie. It seems like Fate/Divine Intervention stepped in. I think it's very strange.

I believe this was the point of the law suit, quite simply Aaliyah and her crew were not told. Also, from what I've read (as I didn't know any of the people involved) but none of the them were the type of people to throw tantrums and act like stupid divas, which is probably the only reason the airline knew they couldn't get away with blaming them and settled out of court.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Nope, the airline started that nasty rumor. Really, you'd have to very egotistical to think somehow that your fame will allow you to transcend things like gravitational forces. If this had happened to someone like Mariah or Whitney the Airline probably would have got away with saying all that stuff.
