Great song. Loved it upon first hearing it years ago. Does anybody know who produced it?
DJ was a good record but it really could've been an even better record with a few of these unreleased tracks included. "Put Your Hands On Me" and "What Can I Say?" were easy placements for me. No brainers. Oh well, shoulda, coulda, woulda.

I do know that it contains a sample of Grandmaster Flash's "The Message." I think it's a Jimmy/Terry/Janet production. I have the CD at home--I'll have to give the credits a look.

That's right. It was included on the Japanese Edition of DJ as a bonus right?
Put Your Hands On written by Janet Jackson, Karen Poole, Bagge, Birgisson, Edward Fletcher, Syvia Robinson, Melvin Glover, Clifton Chase and produced by Rich Harris
LOVE THIS! Y it was left off of Damita Jo I have no clue. It could've easily replaced My Baby.
I guess you haven't listened to it as more than an album track. With Yeezy on the raps, it was meant to be a single!!!
And you can't "easily replace" nothing on Damita Jo!
Yes, boo, you can. I'm one of the biggest Janet fans there is, and I say Put Your Hands On is TEN TIMES BETTER than My Baby. Of course, it's all a matter of opinion, but My Baby is one of the lesser DJ tracks.
You got all these "leftover" Damita Jo tracks that you love but you can't give it up to the album? Do you realize how on point that album is?
Damita Jo is a slammin' record, and it was GREATLY underappreciated and overlooked due to the SB (which, to this day, pisses me off), but some of the leftover trax are better than what ended up on there. My Baby, Like You Don't Love Me and Truly could have been replaced with the superior tracks Put Your Hands On, Could This Be Love and Pops Up. Or if Ruff was on the album immediately after All Nite, followed by RnB Junkie, that would have been the bomb! I even prefer the original version of Just A Little While (Love Me) to the one that made the album.

Thing is I like ALL the songs on "Damita Jo" now and it was one of Janet's most cohesive projects. There were so many great songs she did that she could put all of them on it or replace one with another, it still would've made sense to me.
