there is a disco song that sounds like Get On the Floor, structure wise and with whispery adlibs that I heard on the radio last week, do you know what it is?

And though I don't listen to Off The Wall often though I do like it a lot, I just love She's Out of My Life sooo much and the build up of It's the Falling in Love. Rock With You is a classic I will never get sick of, it's one of my favourite mj songs to sing

No I wasn't talking about another jacksons or mj song, I know triumph/everybody. It was probably another song written by the brothers johnson or quincy jones at about the same time. I know it, it's a funk disco classic, but I can't remember the artist or anything....I find that my memory has been getting really bad from chronic stress in the past 2 years.

I can't see the pic on my work computer. I guess it's like eek or maybe one of disgust. Really, i find it repetative and boring, always have. Love the intro though. I made a thread once here 'BAD is shit' or something, it did ok response-wise. this was pre MJ's death. It's lowdown in my ratings of his albums, i think it's dated horribly in general.

Everything is obviously conjecture.

I would have thought (and statements by Kenny and AEG support it) that has the O2 residency been a success - Michael would have done some satellite shows in other cities.

I always imagined he would do maybe 20 shows in Vegas. 20 at staples center. 20 at MSG.

Then continued the tour to include 10 shows in Tokyo, Japan and maybe 5 shows in Sydney, Australia.

All this over an additional 18 month period.

One would have hoped a new album would have been part of that too.

But like I said - all conjecture.

My lil review of the recent surfacing of another Bad Tour bootleg smile

The Bad Tour: Liverpool England 1988
Aintree Racecourse
September 11, 1988

Audience Recording
4 of 5 quality

Set list
Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
Heartbreak Hotel
Another Part Of Me
I Just Can't Stop Loving You
She's Out Of My Life
I Want You Back
The Love You Save
I'll Be There
Rock With You
Human Nature
Smooth Criminal
Dirty Diana
Thriller
Workin' Day And Night
Beat It
Billie Jean
Bad
The Way You Make Me Feel
Man In The Mirror

With Michael's passing last June, a lot of rare material has surfaced, from batch of unreleased tracks and demos from the Thriller sessions,
to better quality versions of the Victory Tour concerts in Kansas City, Texas, and New York City, to snippets of unreleased songs like Can't Get Your Weight Off Me, A Place With No Name,
and Another Day, the 1996 concerts in Brunei and snippets of live recordings. This latest recording is from the summer UK leg of Michael's 1988 Bad Tour. As someone's who's heard several bootleg recordings from the Bad Tour, the quality surprised me. This is quite possibly
the third best quality audio recording from the tour that we've heard (With the 1989 Los Angeles show, 1988 London, Rotterdam, Turin, and Rome shows)

This was in Liverpool England at the Aintree Racecourse. Michael played to 125,000 fans, his biggest audience of the tour
Aside from the very excited fans yelling and singing along in parts (which can hurt your ears like I did mine), you can hear Michael and the band clearly. Is shocking that such a great quality is almost 22 years old and apparently from a CASSETTE tape.
One cool thing about this recording is the ambient like chime intro to Human Nature. It would be extended used during the last shows of the tour in Tokyo and Los Angeles

This was during the UK leg when Michaelmania '88 was in full steam in Europe and let me tell you, from listening to all the bootlegs I've listened to, Michael's UK fans had to be the most
energized and excited fans of this tour. They sang along, clap, screamed at every dance move...you would think everybody bought copies of Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad prior to the show LOL
The fans are REALLY excited for The Jackson 5ive medley. The fans singing along with every word of I'll Be There makes you feel the warmth. This is my second performance of I'll Be There from the Bad Tour (the Turin performance is my absolute favorite rendition)
I got to say, the vocal intro Michael does between I'll Be There and Rock With You, it reminds you, this was an R&B singer, through and through. The call and response bit with either Greg Philliganes or Dorian Holley is a favorite from the tour

Another highlight is actually a mishap. The introduction to I Just Can't Stop Loving You is messed up. The piano and synthesizer comes in pretty late and the background singers begin the chorus too early (Michael knows the mistake and yellow Chris' name to let him know "Yo, get it together!")
aside from the technical difficulties, it was a good performance.

I've felt that the instrumentation of Another Part of Me never really captured the energy of the album version.

the performance of Rock With You is quite possibly the best of all the recordings. It makes you really want to see the video footage

The recording kept surprising me, with the quality and Michael's energy. It makes you're in the crowd watching Michael performing and it has the BEST live performance of Dirty Diana of all the bootlegs. You really hear him clearly and he pronouces the lyrics right (a rare occasion during the tour LOL)

The vocal performance of Thriller is really good, it makes you frustrated he would lipsynch it throughout the rest of the tour

Smooth Criminal isn't hitting as hard as it does in other recordings. One thing that's interesting, you can tell he was singing along with the backing tape because although you hear the album's vocal, you also hear him singing along

the Liverpool Bad Groove (the band interlude between Thriller and Workin' Day And Night) is pretty good, although the best one from the recordings is the last show's interlude at Los Angeles.
This one throws a nod to Liverpool's very own The Beatles, playing Let It Be to which the crowd singing along

David William's guitar during the beginning of Working Day And Night may have unplugged because you barely hear it sad

This recording confirms one feeling of mine. The Bad Tour band never captured Billie Jean's melody, although they came close. The Dangerous Tour band got it right.
The second best performance of Bad and really good performances of The Way You Make Me Feel and Man In The Mirror.

To think Man In The Mirror didn't do well on the UK chart (it peaked at #21 in 1988, but got to #2 in 2009), the crowd sure loved it and knew the words. He sang Man In The Mirror fully live rarely on the tour. This
is not one of the rare occasions but it's a great performance and Michael's live vocals bleed through at times

Overall, this is a great recording and a must have for Bad Tour fans

I have to say i do expect an album this year, and at this stage give credit to sony and the estate for not rush releasing an album knowing if they did in the months or even on the anniversary of his death they could have really cashed in.

I hope they are giving the album the same thought MJ would have.

Stay tuned.

Dayton, Ohio songwriters contribute to Motown legend's legacy

DAYTON, Ohio – When Motown Records released Michael Jackson's second solo album Ben, August 1972, songwriters Arthur "Hakim" Stokes, Floyd Weatherspoon, Dana Meyers and Allen "Venny" Levinsky were thrilled. Their song "What Goes Around Comes Around" was featured on Jackson's newest release, giving them a reason to celebrate. Dayton songwriters Stokes and Weatherspoon remember the song's history and said they are proud it featured on a Jackson-Motown album. Stokes said the song was written between 1970 and1971, while in a group called The Four Corners, (Stokes, Weatherspoon, Meyers, and Jerome Johnson.) Meyers, Weatherspoon and Stokes performed the song for Levinsky, who was a friend of Motown songwriter Hal Davis. "The song was created at a rehearsal and put together with words and a melody," Stokes said. "Venny liked it enough to send it to Hal." The writers were excited about the possibility of Motown buying their song, but weren't sure it would happen. "If you knew Venny, you'd know he liked to stretch the truth, so we didn't believe he knew Hal," Weatherspoon said. "When Hal came to town, Venny said, ‘This is Hal Davis.' We didn't believe him." The writers were shocked to discover Levensky was serious about being friends with Davis, and found out the two grew up together. Davis traveled to Dayton frequently to visit Levensky, and during one of his visits, he met the writers of "What Goes Around Comes Around." Davis heard the song in Los Angeles when Levensky sent it to him, and according to Stokes, "Hal liked the song." Davis and the writers talked about the song and two other tracks planned for Jackson. "Hal played us some tracks – songs without words," Weatherspoon said. "He let us hear ‘Got to Be There' and ‘I Wanna Be Where You Are' without words." When Ben was released, Motown sent the writers copies of the album, and according to Stokes, he and the writers were excited to hear Jackson sing their song. Stokes said, "Michael sounded amazing." The Dayton songwriters wrote another song Motown bought, called "I'm Glad it Rained." The song remained unreleased until 1995, when Motown issued it on Soulsation! – A Jackson 5, 4-CD box set. Stokes said he and the writers were happy to hear the Jackson 5's version, but surprised by the lyrics. "Lyrically the song was changed, but I liked their version" he said. "When they put an album together, they sift through a lot of material. It was pleasing just to know [the song] made the grade." Motown bought the song after Levensky sent their recording to Davis. "They put a lot of spice in to it, but that's the music business," Weatherspoon said. After Jackson's album Ben released, The Four Corners traveled to Kansas City to perform several shows. When their two-week gig ended, the group moved to Los Angeles. "Hal became our point of contact," Stokes said. After The Four Corners moved California, they reformed their band. Members Kerry Rutledge, Curtis Sanford, Larry Hines and Lloyd Jones joined Stokes in creating Platypus. (Weatherspoon was an original member, but left the group to move back to Dayton.) Stokes never worked with Jackson, but was able to meet him. He and Rutledge wrote a song and Rutledge presented it to Davis in his office. "Hal didn't end up using the song, but it was a slow, love ballad called ‘Make Me Feel Good,'" Stokes said. "Hal liked the song and set it up so Kerry and I could meet in his office. Hal had Michael come over to the office that day. Michael thought it was a good song with a good melody." Though Jackson and Davis enjoyed the song, Stokes said he never found out if Jackson recorded the song. Weatherspoon and Stokes said they treasure their memories at Motown, and are grateful their music was recorded by Jackson solo and the Jackson 5. "Just to have any contact with greatness is amazing," Stokes said. Weatherspoon said he and the other writers were touched by Jackson. "We're part of history," he said. "Michael's one of the greatest entertainers and for us to even have a little part in his history is mind-blowing."
