I'll buy the Spinners version before this one... he takes himself way too seriously, If he wants to do something re-form Tony, Toni, Tone.

I couldnt agree with you more
He needs to get back to creating his own sound. I loved his first two solo albums & all the stuff he has produced for other artists but being stuck in this retro sound is not gaining him any more fans if anything he's losing them Life has a way of making you live it. . . .

He only did one retro album and he did it out of respect for his music roots. PRINCE: Always and Forever

OTOH, I love this cover. "It's a Shame" is one of my favorite songs ever and he certainly does it justice. Since his retro album was easily his best as a solo artist, I have no problem if he wants to stick to it. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

You ever stop and think that maybe just maybe this cat is trying to bring real music back? If you want to be stuck with auto tune and minor key bullshit stay there.

I personally don't mind the brother going retro at all. His version's OK. So I'm not in the "he shouldn't do this retro crap" group.

I agree! I LOVED 'The Way I See It.' He can stick with the 'retro' sound for all I care.

"It's a Shame" was originally recorded in 1969 by the Spinners and was released a year ago despite protest from Berry Gordy. The song was produced by Stevie Wonder, then 19, who wrote it with then-girlfriend Syreeta "Rita" Wright and then-songwriting partner Lee Garrett. G.C. Cameron was then the Spinners' lead vocalist.
Raphael apparently has recorded the song for a Levi's-supported album or something.
