Solange

I really like this girl. Wasn't feeling that first album she came out with waay back. But i LOVED sol-angel and the hadley street dreams. yea she was doing the whole retro thing but it really works for her.

anyway, this is a recent interview where she discusses her new music. i really like the approach she took with this album + i cannot wait to hear it

Tell us a little bit about working on the new album
“I went up to Santa Barbara, found this house on five acres in the mountains and invited a bunch of amazing musicians to come live there with me for a month and just experiment. We woke up around 10 a.m. and made music until midnight, all of course while drinking good wine, picking avocados from the trees outside to make guacamole, and maybe enjoying a joint or two. I left the process a little crazy, but I really feel like I came into my own.”

I really fell in love with her after her sophomore album and I can't wait for her new stuff to be released whenever she finds a new label home.

Solange is different from Beyonce...she's a little on the "gangsta" side. She'll drop an "F" bomb in a minute without any fore or after thought. Beyonce would never admit to smoking the stickey green ...even if she did it on the regular. The difference in siblings...I tell ya.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

She's got more soul than her sister. I love the album. I'm curious, as well, to see what she brings to the table next.

Sol-Angel was the shit! I was feeling every track I heard and felt it got pushed aside when her sister dropped I Am Sucha Farce. She deserves credit for making music for good listening and not just for coochie popping! She has a great talent and I can't wait for her next release.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I also have a live version of "I Decided" from the VH1 Fashion Rocks. It's a great take, and she throws in a little "Heatwave" in the bridge section. I saved and encoded it to my AppleTV. I think I pulled the audio from it as well. I might be when I first really heard her sing, although I knew about her being out there doing stuff.

Isn't she the Mother of a little boy?

While I'm not really a fan of her music as of yet, aside from a couple one-off songs she has released on the internet, I'm keeping my eye on her. I think she has the most potential of the Knowles sisters of making substantive, lasting music. It seems that she has accepted that she's not going to be a pop-star on the level of her sister, and is going a more organic route, which I appreciate. I also like that she has much more of a personality and attitude than Beyonce, who comes across like a corporate puppet.
