I was in serious transit the year this album came out, so I didn't get to hear much of it when it was new. But man, that sound is unmistakable. Their music never fails to just make me feel HAPPY, always makes me wanna dance!

Thank God for CD's, lol. I would be so miserable if I had to listen to today's radio exclusively.

LMAO at your last statement. True however.

I always dug this song and tracks like Too Tight, Lady's Wild, Touch,

and Can't Say Goodbye. I always felt that this was probably their

weakest album of the 80's but after revisiting it some it's better than

i thought. I still don't care for the closing 2 songs on side 1 of the

album Give Your Love to Me and Pride and Glory.

I don't remember having ever seen ConFunkShun live. How many of the original line-up remain? As I believe we've lost a member or two over the years. Hope you'll be giving us your review after Saturday's show. Your "feets" should be worn out by then, lol.

I think there might be 2 camps. one called Con Funk Shun, and the other Confunkshun. The latter one includes Michael Cooper, Feton Pilate, and the 2 hornplayers (saxophone + trumpet) who's names i can't recall right now. Their later bassplayer Eric "EQ" Young used to be part for mid-80's funkband RaDIaNCe who were signed for Quincy's Qwest-label and caused quite a stir in the westcoast with their energetic shows. EQ has earned his funkstripes, and there is (or was) recent live-footage of him funkin' up that bass on CFS's 70's groove "Candy", from which actually also a topic was posted on the org. The Confunkshun-camp has been organising funk-cruises for some years now, and invited other heavy-weights for their cruise as well, including The Bar-Kays.

Original CFS-drummer Louis McCall passed away too soon indeed. He was shot in his house by a burglar.

nod

The Barkays were on in Tom Joyner's studio last week and they talked about

how fantastic this tour was. I remember watching another clip online with

Michael Cooper talking about it saying how easy it was for all the artists to

put their ego aside because they used to tour all over together and if a

musician from one of the bands was late or couldn't make a gig they would

all fill in for each other. There are clips on Youtube for the Masters of Funk tour.
