I love the beat! The Dream is always good for a few great songs per cd. Hes more reliable than Prince these days, and that drum beat is way more creative than much we've heard from Prince these days.

I am starting to wonder if some of you are smoking crack. This guy is not catching Prince on a bad day this song is Ready For The World trying to sound like Prince from 20 years ago crap. It might time for some of you to move on if you think this crap is better than anything on 20TEN.

lol lol lol

20Ten is definitely better than this shit.

speaking of 80s Prince-sounding music, whatever happened to P.Diddy's new album? He's using music that sounds like it's coming straight from Prince's '1999' album sessions lol

You could hear IIWYG in the beginning. Don't like the sound of what he's doing to it shake

P.Diddy sucks lol but I'm interested in hearing what he does with this music.

yeah, I saw that too. lol

It really annoys me when the media makes glib criticisms of prince's music. I hear it every now and then like this. I'd much rather they just stick to making fun of his image. They try to come off as music-savvy with the music criticisms, like they know what's going on... just annoys me.

I know..I remember they said TGE was the best in 20 years..then Musicology was the best in 20 years..and the Rainbow Children, and 3121..they need to just give it up..,the man's too versatile to judge.

Last; the best Prince album? Hahahahahahah there are no more Prince style songs on there..if Prince released half the mess on it I would have been apalled he would stoop that low.

I hate modern rnb, but "Yamaha" is much more enjoyable (and better to me) to me then anything off "20 ten". The production and "texture" for lack of a better word, is gorgeous. You can get away with poor lyrics if the tune and production are tight. And he has that. Prince hasn't at the moment.

I like little touches like the refrain at the end of "Yamaha", it's nothing revolutionary but I rarely see any new artists even think of simple song tricks like this....

"seen alot of places all around the world....".

It doesn't sound like a Prince track to me really, but its better then anything off his last album thats for sure.

I feel Prince's albums have been so so since 2001. No new themes, vibes, era's or concepts since "Rainbow Children". Nothing new from him really. Just same ole' pop/rnb. I forgave him for "Rave", as he then gave us "Rainbow Children", but since then his albums have shown no growth, and more icrucially, no new ideas. His sound and lyrics are stale for the most part. Might as well go back to his old albums.

I don't hate "20 ten" mind, but "Yamaha" has gorgeous production that actually gets the 80's retro thing right. Alot of artists (particually oh so hip poppy dance acts) try and be 80's, but it sounds abit "flat", abit fake. They try too hard. The Dream, on "Yahama" at least, gets it right. Even Prince can't get legit retro vibe on "20 ten", though he does try.

Great track.

My issue with the The-Dream is I can't visualize him singing this.

Prince? Yeah, I can see his mug instantly.

R. Kelly? Yeah, I can see him too.

I can even see Ne-Yo.

But not The-Dream. I can't dream The-Dream's face while listening to this track, or any of his music. shrug And that's a problem considering his name.

Beginning Endlessly > Yamaha

One of the better tracks no doubt, and yes, the synths are similar, but the texture ain't half as thick as "yamaha". "Beginning endlessly" sounds cold, "Yamaha" sounds dreamy and warm to me. The Dreams lyrics are better too. "Beginning endlessly" runs out of steam on the break halfway through. It goes nowhere. Just by The Dream puting on that "seen alot of places all around the world", keeps the momentum going. "Beginning endlessly" just gets dull.

There is nothing to the track at all. What in world are you listening too. “Act of God” kicks this tracks ass and so do the ballads on 20TEN. This guy can’t hold a fucking note.

If you do not like what P is doing fine. He is not everybody taste but if you are going to sing someone else's praises find someone who doing something innovative or being a trend setter.

This crap is no different than what P was doing 25 years ago. The Dream is just copying Prince and not putting is own signature on the music.

If anything it sounds like a “ready for the world” track. They themselves came off as cheap imitators of a specific prince sound. It lacks the wit, intelligence, and musical chops you find in actual prince material. Anyone suggesting that this is better than anything on 20Ten is operating musically on a very superficial level. It is juvenile in it overall presence.

Yes, it is worst it is kind of like all of the Prince imitators from 25 years ago. When do RnB artist move forward and really do something new. Or is Prince really the last innovative black artist.

hmmm I'm surprised so many people don't think it sounds like a Prince track. The song sounds to me like pure prince (1999-purple rain era)...

even the vocal harmonies remind me of Prince.

that dreamy production texture you mentioned... I get that same feeling from Little Red Corvette and a lot of tracks off purple rain (beautiful ones)... I think it's that Oberheim synth with certain dreamy chords combined with linn drum...

I think Prince pretty much dropped that sound after purple rain...

Great track.

hmmm I'm surprised so many people don't think it sounds like a Prince track.

Iam not technical in the slightest, but its a shame if your right about Prince dropping the Oberheim synth after "Purple Rain". Yes it does remind me of the synths on "Little red corvette". Maybe if he goes back to that type of Oberheim one day, then maybe a track similar to "Yamaha" could be released. Did Prince actually use old analogue synths on "20 ten", because it sure doesn't sound like he did?

I can definately hear Prince influences in the track, and the linn drum sounds exactly like a Prince riff, but I think the track stands on its own aswell.
