saw Willie Nelson live in Brussels this week.

Hey

on thursday I attended my second Willie Nelson concert, this time at the 'ancien Belgique' in Brussels (Belgium). I saw him two years ago in Antwerp (Be) doing a show that still remains one of the best concert experiences of my life. the show earlier this week came very close, but the crowd wasn't as lively this time.

In general I liked the entire evening. First thing to notice, Willie had his hair cut... whatever samson-analogy applies here it seems to be reversed cause his guitar playing is much better than it was a couple of years ago! He seemed somewhat tired after a very intense tour already (the guy is 75 years old and does a concert just about every other night!)...but played with all the strength he had in him. Surprisingly he seemed sometimes genuinly surprised by the crowd enthousiastic reactions.

I can't remember the exact setlist, but these songs were played:

* on the road again

* beer for my horses (huge crowd pop)

* me and paul

* nobody's fault but mine

* blue eyes crying in the rain

* Will the circle be unbroken (amazing up-tempo version)

* crazy (huge pop)

* ain't it funny how time slips away

* nightlife

* If you got the money I got the time

* Bloody mary morning

* the party's over

* Good hearted woman

* ...

hank williams covers:

* move it on over

* I saw the light

* I saw the light (reprise to close the show)

In antwerp he did two encore's, this time he just played the show. I noticed his sister (piano) needed the assistance of two stage-hands to get off the stage after the show, don't know what exactly was going on, hope she was allright.

All in All a great evening, hope you guys in the US realize what a national treasure he is!

It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!
