Well I guess I can play devil's advocate too: he never set up a date. shrug

Thank you!

I can't stand ambiguity when it comes to artists I love, its not negativity, its just frustration. Work on your stuff, when its a SURE THING to release it, talk about it.

This dude though, have been running the mouth since god knows when, and as you can plainly see; nothing.

I've seen articles and interviews with people who claim to have an inside scoop, but honestly I have not heard any D'angelo running the mouth. So I call bullshit on you haters!

Some of yall act like he's gonna do 'Voodoo' or 'Brown Sugar' again. That's not happening. So of course there is resistance to the direction that he's been plotting for quite some time now. This isn't Musiq, R. Kelly or Jaheim we're talking about here. He has had a few setbacks over the years, but he for the most part kept out of the limelight and lived his life.

As for those old pics yall keep pulling out just to satisfy your hate for this cat, get over it cause he's back. This certainly doesn't look like ODB.

D

stop tripping. What have you all done musically? Thought so... So shut the funk up and eat crow when the new shit drops and you love it!

Ha @ the article mentioning that they did not see him or know what he looks like now. Let's just hope he no longer looks like Old Dirty Bastard. When that picture came across my email a few years back, I liketa fell over dead.

I liked D'Angelo, I really thought he was a promising brother. Seems like brothers just can't take the stresses of the industry. It either drives them crazy, makes them addicts or incites violence in them. Another brother who missed his real opportunity was Donnel Jones. He dropped that first album, and then got caught up in some BS legal trouble about trying to make his limo driver drive him somewhere to cop drugs, and the limo driver was reportedly beat down for refusing. Not sure if he did time behind that, but it definitely knocked him off his game which was potentially a damned good one at that.

Let's hope for the best for D'Angelo.

Well at least Rahiem Divone (spelling) is still in the game.

I never heard of that happening to him. Not saying it didn't. But an interview I read recently said he was having trouble finding a good label and he is now doing it independent....Talking about Donell Jones.

Dag why we gotta be haters? I mean everyone here sounds like they recognize D'Angelo's talent, but some are just saying that they are tired of hearing that "he's coming....he's coming"......Damn come with it already. Sounds to me that people in this thread would gladly give D the opportunity to prove his new style. Don't be so sensitive dude. biggrin

Your frustration should be redirected at whoever titled that interview "I'm cooking up something real nice". Because folks on the board tried to hold out as long as they could before someone caome along in the thread and actually broke down and "translated" that title. eek

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Y'all feel me on this? Do you really think he recorded nothing that whole time?

In his defence from my earlier tirade though..

?uestlove said that he recorded materials to cover 4 or 5 albums, but the record label still blocks them out for fear of not fitting the "radio playlist", which is an inevitable matter at this point because D'Angelo's music won't fit the playlist's sound anyway.

I'm disgusted by the record label's complete lack of balls, they could've released an EP like ya'll said, or a promo single to test the water OR D could've released an album independently, although that would burn bridges with his label.

If the label did release D'angelo music back then. He still wouldn't have been able to promote it. He wasn't even in a good state of mind from what I heard....

As far as Donnel Jones is concerned, I'm speaking of an incident that happened right after his first HOT album dropped. Donnell has since been back on the scenes with that song "I'm gonna be" (which I actually liked). But I think he lost momentum by that B.S. incident that I described earlier. He never had a chance to build up a really large fan base because of the early drama. And when his 2nd joint dropped, it just kinda fell by the wayside.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

I disagree but U can still have your opinion.....But real talent always prevails. Look at R.Kelly. Donell just didn't have the right people behind him. Plus Laface Records folded and a lot of artist were left in the cold and he was one of them.....

If you have a sense of compassion for the eyes of the general public you'd tell Aretha to put those Tig Ole Biddies behind a sturdy slingshot of a bra and spare all of our retinas.

OK. That's it, the last damn straw bout' Sista Franklin's triple 52 QQQ kaunas. fit

I'd advise all ya'll to look from the neck up from now on. Hell, deem bras were sturdy until she slung those breast in them; man made materials can't handle that amount of stress! You tell her, Sista Franklin's not going to double slap my butt back into childhood. lol
