Phoenix.

The show was amazing, as expected. She did some familiar tunes, and weaved in and out of some old school funk favorites like "More Bounce To The Ounce", and even broke into an impromptu version of Nate Dogg's "Ain't No Fun If The Homies Cant Have None". The Meet and Greet/ Q&A session was short and sweet, and Miss Badu was genuine, and relaxed. Janelle Monae, who also sat in on the Q&A turned it out, as the opener.

So, finally after 3 shows of her I've seen, I finally met her, she signed an album of mine, and took a photo with me and my niece. She is just how I believed she would be.

Does she have a website that lets you know well in advance where she will be playing live gigs?

I think she is coming to my city as part of the Lilith Fair festival but damned if I'm gonna sit through anyone else on that bill!

Her Detroit show was originally planned for the weekend my son brought his fiance' home to meet the family. I love my soon-to-be daughter-in-law but still...I wanted to see Erykah. Then I heard the show was pushed backed.

To the weekend of my Anniversary when I'm not going to be in town.

I was totally bummed! Then what do you know...the show has been postponed again until August. I like to think that our girl could feel the vibe that I wasn't going to be there for her!

Anyhoo, I've got my tickets and can't wait!

Well since joining Twitter, I usually keep up with some of my favorite artists and they regularly show dates when you follow them. It's much easier, and the updates are quite current, especially with artists that tweet on a regular basis. She's one of 'em.

Erykah Badu is in her own world. But I like. I really appreciate her art. She seems to be so full of creativity and art. However, I really don't like the sound of her Billy Holiday wannabe timbre, but her songs are so good that I just push that aside in my mind and just deal with her voice so that I can enjoy her lyrics, and the music. Ironically, sometimes the "official" sites have the least amount of actual info, and is usually propped up to promote an album, not necessarily up-to-date with tour info. That's why I asked where he found out.
