Singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton openly announced her bisexuality while headlining the Nashville Pride festivities this weekend.

She told the 18,000 people in the audience: "I've never said this before, but I am a proud bisexual woman."

"True Blood" star Anna Paquin also made news with her recent revelation about her own bisexuality. Paquin explained that she "just wanted to do my bit my coming out."

The Grammy-nominated singer, 29, best known for "A Thousand Miles" and "Ordinary Day," had been romantically linked to Third Eye Blind singer Stephan Jenkins (who used to date Charlize Theron), but they split a few years ago.

Carlton dedicated a song off her second album -- "Who's to Say?" -- to her gay fans. It's a song about forbidden love, and the lyrics include "And who's to say that we're not good enough? / And who's to say that this is not our love?"

Her fourth album, "Rabbit on the Run", is also coming out. And one of the songs on the LP will be "I Don't Want to be a Bride."

Congrats, Vanessa. That's a brave thing to do.

Yeah it reeks of wanting to fit in. It's like orientation is now being used to sell records when it shouldn't even be like that. Though I'm sure when Anna Paquin came out it wasn't due to wanting people to see her film IDK
