This poll has seen a huge jump in participation, perhaps because the 80s is a decade that is very beloved by the posters of Music: Non-Prince. There was some other little guy on the scene, too, who was aiming to break down barriers. His scope was perhaps even higher, aiming to unite not only races, but sexuality and spirituality. Such a marriage could well be considered a thesis statement for this guy's career, and this song is perhaps the apex of this sentiment, with lyrics doubling as both celebration in the midst of war and spiritual preparation for the End Times. Born out of desperation, this song seems to have had providential origins, as the male part of the duo accidentally played the percussion of the track backwards during a bitter fight, leading the orange-cropped androgynous chanteuse to bolt up and belt out the most famous synth line of the 80s and subsequently record the verses of the song in one take. That clapping sound heard during the "oooooh" parts is actually the duo banging picture frames against the wall because they could not afford a claptrap!

When Doves Cry, Billie Jean, SOTT, Like a Prayer and Sweet Dreams are perfect for the top5, but I'd have preferred Like a Prayer in the Nº3... AMAZING SONG LIST!! Conclusions/Comments -Prince, Jackson and Madonna basically own the 80s
-Prince's 80s songs deserve all these high positions; he was the King of the 80s (I predict that Stevie and Bowie will get the same treatment for the 70s poll  )
