What have been your favorites this year?

I haven't heard a whole bunch, so I'm interested in what good new music is out there.

Basically, I've only heard 7 new albums this year:

Sade- Soldier of Love
Hot Chip- One Life Stand
Gorillaz- Plastic Beach
Marina and the Diamonds- The Family Jewels
Goldfrapp- Headfirst
Soundtrack- Greenberg
LCD Soundsystem- This Is Happening

cover of the Peter Gabriel tune. Absolutely gorgeous.

David Byrne & Fatboy Slim w/ Tori Amos - "You'll Be Taken Care Of"
Entire record is great

Gorillaz - "On Melancholy Hill"
sounds like its airlifted from about mid-1983. love it


The Hot Rats - "The Lovecats"
one of the best covers albums in ages. also love the version of bowie's "Queen Bitch"

Jonsi - "Animal Arithmetic"
this is a majjjikal album.

MGMT - "It's Working"
probably my best album so far for 2010


Sade - "Soldier of Love"
incredible comeback single; rest of album didn't live up

Smashing Pumpkins - "Widow Wake My Mind"
The new stuff is their best since the Adore album.

Spoon - "Out Go The Lights"
really strong performance. whole album is good

Yeasayer - "Ambling Alp"
would be my 2nd pick for best album so far in 2010.

65daysofstatic feat. Robert Smith - "Come To Me"
great track, awesome to hear Robert Smith again

Thomas Dolby - "Love is a Loaded Pistol"
the man is BACK. new track d/loaded from his website.


The National - "Terrible Love"
One of the best bands going.

I also like the new albums by Massive Attack, Shakespeare's Sister, The Lost Patrol, Blockhead, Broken Bells, Hot Chip, and the Vampire Weekend. I also like some of the new Hole, need to give it a few more listens.

Been a good musical year so far.
