Usher, just like R.Kelly, has spent most of his career riding the middle instead of being ahead of his competition. For instance - Michael hired all of the hot producers and made them do different things from what they did on other peoples' records. Teddy Riley's work with MJ, for instance, is far superior to that one groove he sold to most of the artists he produced in the 90s. Usher takes the latest producers and buys a track from them. That's not very visionary of him. Michael used to also buy out a few song publishing catalogs. Usher never done that neither.

Douchebag. The ego of all these mediocre talented wanna-bes kills me! He should want to be "Usher the icon" not "the next Michael Jackson." Unfortunately, he and many others simply don't have that level of talent or that genius undefinable "it" factor that MJ and Prince have! That gets me too. I don't get it. From Gaga to Usher, artists today have no shame in calling themselves legends and icons or calling their own work epic or a masterpiece. Even when MJ was setting the world on fire, I'm sure he knew that the things that he was doing was groundbreaking, but he didn't go around bigging up his own shit. What happened to letting your work speak for itself?

Artists like Stevie Wonder, James Brown, and later artists like MJ and Prince never, EVER claimed to be "icons" and never thought that way! They just created and played their music the way THEY thought is should be and put it out there! There was acknowledgment of prior influences but no ego claiming to displace the reputation or status of someone who they considered an icon. Times have certainly changed, with the ego-driven talentless claiming the spot of prior musical icons... True musical genius speaks for itself!

Say what?? Kanye has a better chance than Usher at this point. Right now, the only thing Usher can say he has in common with Michael is that they both married some suspicous looking "females" and had babies.

This type of bragging only shows the deep-rooted insecurity he's had for all these years...which is that he is not irreplaceable at all. Nobody's supposed to even dream of being the next MJ. Stop dreamin.

All those uplifting anthemic gospel flavored songs are clones of each other. That ended up being what he rode for the past 15 years. Now aint that the truth. It started with "You Are Not Alone" and still hasn't stopped. I Believe I Can Fly Gotham City I Wish The list goes on and on.

Worldwide icon? I mean i'll always give credit where it's due and Usher is a talented dude and has been very successful, i'm a fan, but his ego is out of control. He's not as great as he thinks and I definitely don't see him as a worldwide icon. An icon for his generation? Yes! But that's about it. I don't even think he has a classic record or song, which is kinda interesting since I think both "8701" and "Confessions" were strong albums, but he has yet to have a classic song. Even Beyonce (whose music I think is disposable for the most part) has "Crazy In Love" and/or "Single Ladies". Alicia Keys' is another one from the newer crop of artists who does have material that will be played years from now. "Fallin" for sure is a great song and will still be getting airplay in 10+ years. I can't say the same for any of Usher's music. That's one of the main reasons why I don't think he'll be an icon. I don't see his music standing the test of time. His music is just getting worse and worse now too especially with this "Daddy's Home" mess he has out. He needs to do better if he wants to hang with the "big dawgs" lol like MJ, Prince, Stevie, Marvin, etc. All of whom I know he admires. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always ![]()
