the Sticky & Sweet tour was wack

it was my first madonna concert after so many years of being a fan and I had bad seats so I thought thats why I didnt enjoy it, but I saw it up close on the dvd finally on youtube clips, and her face looked horrible and she had no energy in my opinion, it was her worst tour even if the special effects were nice. I prefer her 80s and early 90s tours so much more too, I didnt like Drowned World when it aired on tv, and missed Reinvention cause of not getting work off though I realized I missed nothing. Confessions only came 5 hours away and not here though it was huge here and I loved the special effects, but Sticky and Sweet got the most hype and was the worst tour of hers, and I actually liked Hard Candy so its not that either. Im just relieved she looks like herself again these days and is focusing on movies.

I agree. Again, I only saw it on DVD (the only show I saw live was "Drowned World", which was overall good.

I think the main thing was she lacked not only energy but ideas...I have never been to a rave...do they wear glittery football outfits? We get it! You like old gypsies...we don't! So let me get this straight...you'll be performing "Give It 2 Me" later in the show....but we also have to sit through this slide show, too? And you don't have enough of your own great songs to mix into these on screen transitions that you need to play "Here Comes The Rain Again". That was the most cringe worthy....you'd think at least she would record the vocals for these songs. It was amateur hour (well, 2 hours or so).

it's funny - i hated the show live (but saw it in stadiums both times). the high point was all of dodger stadium / madonna singing along to dress you up. that kind of made it worth it.

i think the dvd makes the show so much better. yes, it was very uninspired and buy-the-numbers for her, but with a clean sound mix and her vocals mixed much cleaner (ie re recorded/dubbed), i saw what they were trying to do. i've enjoed the dvd. they were just trying to make a 'fun' mindless show, a la the who's that girl tour. her worst tour, still, IMO. and they did have some really cool samples/mash ups, esp Into the Groove 2008, LAP 2008 and the new version of 'music.'

best part of the whole show? when she inexplicably stops 'music' to whine in an old lady/british accent "oh, please...don't stop" that was awesome

I've been saying her shows have sucked or a while now (and I've gone to a couple of them). It's her stan fans who appear to be the only ones who refuse to accept how horrible her shows have evolved. So sad cause she used to be one of the best live performers around.

Well, she has nice productions for her tours that's mostly why people find them entertaining. But as a performer she's kinda dull. Just my opinion. I love her Blonde Ambition tour though. Oh and fuck those little slide shows lol She always has that montage of her old pics somewhere in the show

I agree with you. When I saw the show live,I didn't like the performances of "Human Nature" and "Borderline".But on DVD,these performances are great.I think the low point of the show was the "Gypsy/Latin" segment. It goes on too damn long! Plus, she should have taken "Spanish Lesson" out of this segment and replaced it with "Who's That Girl" (a fan favorite that rarely gets performed on her tours). This song would have made that segment more fun, imo.

My favorite moments: "Miles Away"(I love the audience singalong part),"Heartbeat" and "Into The Groove" (alot of fun!)

Worst moments: "Ray Of Light" (please Madonna, give this song a break! Don't perform it on the next tour)."Like A Prayer" was disappointing too. This is one of those amazing songs that just doesn't work well in a "live" setting.I feel the same way about Prince's "When Doves Cry".All of the live versions of "LAP" are no good.Ir's hard to capture the magic of the studio version, with the original choir.

'Confessions' is my favorite Madonna tour.It was brilliant! The final segment, featuring "Erotica/You Thrill Me",was excellent.A nice surprise!

I agree with the song choices except for Spanish Lesson...I did enjoy that ditty with the dark hoods on the dancers.

The gypsy segment was dull in my opinion and could have been left off...Yes i am ALSO tired of Ray Of Light on every tour!!!! I never got in2 that song.

I was dissapointed with the dance version of Like A Prayer..if she wants to do that song she has to do it seriously and with the same music as the original and a big choir for it to be pulled off well.

I thought the tour was pretty sweet..especially Candy Shop, Vogue, 4 Minutes, She's Not Me, Music, Heartbeat and Give It To Me were my favorite segments.

I appreciated her singing live too.

I loved the she's not me and vogue segments but she was barely moving around and looked lazy, her dancers overshadowed her

I don't know about stans being the only ones who go, cause she's pretty big here still, so people just hear her name when she tours and she sells out fast.

No, Stans are the only ones who praise her shows. That was my point.

music

it was fucking brilliant. even my dad loved it.

Stuart's "Erotica" rework is the best thing i've ever seen her do live - the outfit, the music, the choreography - even if it was lip synched, lol.

"Music Enferno" through the encore of "Hung Up" really, plus the "like a virgin" remix and the whole mid eastern vibe and the "Let it Will be" courtney love tribute -- all fuckin dope as fuck.

i still have faith she can do a great show next time. RIT and S&S still have great musical moments and great staging moments. RIT was better. DW and Confessions tour were OFF THE FUCKING CHAIN. and BA, GS and the Virgin Tour are still all 100% classics.

I disagree. Ppl who are 'casuals' still pay a fuckload of cash to see her and i bet they will next time.

And i think the casual fans liked the S&S tour more than stans on the whole.

well, she's not me was the best of these old montages so far, video wise, but I agree. I wish she'd stop reyling so damn much on video! it makes the whole show look 'flat.' the drowned world director said that about RIT and i agree. enough with the damn videos ! i know it's her way of making little films for a multi media experience, but really, we dno't need them the whole time you're onstage bitch. do the performing LIVE while you're on, then when you change from slut costume to dirty old mom costume, have one as brilliant as the "paradise" or "bedtime story" video interludes play. more powerful that way.

I agree with U, Confessions was great, I love the music that 70's vibe, I wish would have worked that a bit more.

I think with the S&S (which by the way sold out 2wice...she's the only artist I know of who started and ended a sold out tour, and then started and ended the same tour sold out) Can't be that bad.

I think what's missing is her chemistry with Donna D & Nikki, neither were on this tour.

Girl Show was crazy good, I loved Drowned World, the Reinvention tour was really good too and Confessions was really good. S&S to me just has too much technology enhancements. She needs to get Christopher Cicconi back as musical director

Sticky and Sweet definitely had its moments, but it's not her best tour. I'm surprised people didn't like LAP. For me that was one of its highlights. I think S&S sort of recycled some of the ideas too much from the previous tours. I didn't like the Gypsy/Latin section either because she has done similar things too many times.
Also, HC is probably the only Madonna album I hate. I usually love everything she does. So since it was based around that album, I couldn't get into it as much. Also, I think she focused too much on dancing in it. It had her weakest ever vocals. People criticize Madonna's singing but it was quite good on Confessions and RIT.
Also, the guitar playing has become a gimmick. When she first started playing guitar on the Music album, it seemed she took it more seriously, but now it has become just a joke like the awful rock Hung Up version.

yea people do wear strange costumes at times at raves but I think the whole idea of the shoulderpads was to be kind of like a scifi type fighter. I mean 4 Minutes to Save the World, you know like she is sort of like a superhero. Thats what I got from it. The sound of that section was rave but the visual for me like I said was more like a scifi film where shes a warrior. I loved Vogue. I was at the front of the catwalk in Atlanta so I saw this show up close and personal. The gypsy section was extremely effective. The slide show during Shes Not ME was boring but I love when the wannabes come up on stage. That was awesome. I loved Vogue because of the choreography. I did'nt really care for her makeup during this show but that has nothing to do with the music. The only parts I just didnt like were Hung Up, and Heartbeat. I like both songs but the performances were boring, Ray of Light was also kind of boring because it was basically a repeat of the Confessions performance.
