I love this song. I also like that Armand Van Helden sampled it for 'Koochy'.

Kraftwerk, The Human League, Gary Numan, Heaven 17, Depache Mode, Yaz, Devo, & Berlin were all at the forefront in pushing a synths & drum machines only policy.

Don't forget Soft Cell & Pete Shelley.

Although can we please forget A Flock Of Seagulls? lol

I love this song, more the music than the "singing?". Everytime I'm like dancing jig when it comes on and my mom is like hah! at me.

Hmmm. I was listening to some Numan records the other day and I have to say that there's not that much high quality material there. Perhaps it's just his voice that does a disfavour to the music. He seems to have served as a prototype for later EBM bands more than anything else:

I believe he was hated in his home country for his polical views and because he seemed to be something of a dork.

lol Yeah, but I always think of it as an 80s song.It was released as a single in America at the tail end of 1979,debuting in the US Top 40 on March 29,1980 (it peaked at Number 9).

A bit like when Rolling Stone voted The Clash's "London Calling" as the best album of the 80's when it was released in the UK in 1979.

I love this jam. It's very apparent that this must have influenced Prince when he made "Automatic".

hell yeah! I belive that wholly! I hear this jam every now and then on the oldies station and it rocks. You wouldn't really think it was as old as it is. Could very well pass for a late 80s or even early 00s jam. and you can dance to it!!! dancing jig

man he is so creepy looking yet eeriliy sexy. eek
