I don't know about the "direction" of Lodger, but it's got three of my favorite Bowie songs back-to-back: "DJ", "Look Back In Anger", and "Boys Keep Swinging". "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Give the OP a break for gawds sake...
Hey why not listen to the second side of the Low album - it's packed full of similar pop hits like Let's Dance etc. Let me know if you enjoy it! ..sharmone MF..!

Replicas is a classic too, but somehow I prefer the Pleasure (if only because it has Cars, my favourite song of all time ); Eat to the Beat has two of my fav Blondie tracks ever (Atomic, and Dreaming) but I'm not mad about the rest of the album... and let's not forget one underrated electro-pop classic of 1980: Robert Palmer's Clues , waaay better than Lodger I quite like The Pleasure Principle too, but I'd put about 10 songs from Tubeway Army/Gary Numan above it. Eat to the Beat is my favorite Blondie album by quite some way- I really love every song. The 70s Poll is going to be great! Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Wow, just...wow.
I remember when I first heard Station To Station. I was in absolute awe at this song. And it still remains to be my favorite.

i appreciate the feedback. i'm beyond responding to "name calling" and "personal attacks" based on MY opinions (no matter how unfounded they may be...). i'll give Golden Years a listen and see what i think. i enjoy a good music experiment, but i don't believe you have to sacrifice melody, or accessibility to achieve that. this track was way too obtuse, hopefully his other "experiments" will resonate

if you don't like Station To Station, you might as well just stick to one of the numerous greatest hits packages and not bother beyond that. STS is an incredibly catchy song that I get stuck in my head all the time, but it's structural complexity and length may be what's putting you off. Changesbowie, Best of Bowie, the Singles Collection or maybe even The Platinum Collection (Best of 1969/1974, 1974/1979, 1980/1987) are for you.

I also recommend you Sense of Doubt and Neuköln two bona fide pop singles
