So why does she keep getting movie roles? When will Hollywood wise up and show this no-talent the door already?

Well, don't forget that she's not some spring chicken anymore. In fact, she's been in the entertainment business for the last 20 years, first as a Fly Girl in In Living Color; then as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson and in some TV pilots, then in Selena, Money Train, and Anaconda; then her breakout movie role in Out Of Sight; following that came her breakout music career, of which both peaked in the mid 2000's. Then she married Marc Anthony and took a break to have and raise twins. So her recent projects have only occurred within the past year.

But the question is about whether Jennifer Lopez's career is done and over? While I wouldn't say that either her music or movie careers are over, it's highly unlikely that she'll experience the meteoric stardom she had at the beginning of the last decade. Music fans are fickle, and they move on to the next big diva every five years or so, and as far as movies are concerned, she's already 40 years old, which unfortunately in Hollywood means that roles for mature actresses are harder to come by unless you have Oscar-worthy talent.

Not a thing to do with her ass, but moreso her pure lack of singing talent or level of being interesting. She's more boring than homemade soap.

She is "over" as a musical act.Her time is up.How many times can she come out with a lame shit hop track featuring a popular rapper? It's played out! The good thing for her is that, she has acting to fall back on.Hollywood isn't tired of her yet.

Right now it's hard for ANYONE to sell records, so I don't see the next album (well, let's be honest, single or couple of singles) doing well unless there are some strong hooks.

As for her movie career, her time as a leading lady might be over (lousy movie choices have hurt her although I don't know if the reviews for the last movie were terrible,,,just audience reaction wasn't great). I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing her in more independent features or taking smaller parts in better films. She might have to reestablish herself as an actress before she is seen as a movie star again, if know what I mean.

Janet? be real now folks, i know you love to drink the kool aid of your favorite diva, but they are gonna sell slightly more than mrs. lopez and there chart impact and chart live well be about the same.

the same reason Keanu Reeves and the Rock and every untalented actor that gets roles.

J.Lo doesn't make them money anymore, though. Her film career is over.

She never had a film career, Selena doesnt count because people went because of Selena not JLO, her other "hits" all rode on other people, George Clooney, Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes, Matthew and other costars, so to say she was a box office draw on her own is false, she never was, look at any film she had to carry on her own without benefit of a costar of higher stature or doing a film about a person that just died. And believe it or not, depending on what she got for this film, they made money, because all you have to do is double the budget to break even, and very few movies break even that are put out by major studios, shit movies that do 100 million often lose studios money because they cost over 50 million to make.

i don't believe her career is over

if she continues to hone her skills in movies or music she has a shot at longevity, should she play her cards right.

Her music career I mean. Her last album kinda flopped but her recent movie "The Backup Plan" may save her film career. So should she give up the mic and concentrate on being an actress?

She's done on both counts. She never was much of an actress... Marc Anthony though is still strong on both fronts! wink

Well, I love la Lopez and don't mind her being around in the biz at all. But do I need new music from her? Unless it's something like Get Right, nah. Would I like to see her in more movies? Yeah. I know I'm in the minority when I say that I don't think Jennifer is as bad an actress as people seem to think. Plus, imo, she's incredibly charming and cool cool

I think her only legitimate box office hit was "The Wedding Planner"....to say that it drew on Matthew McCoughney's star power would be really incorrect since he wasn't exactly hitting them out of the park at the time and Jennifer just released a number one album. He was almost the ancillary chick role that you see in most of Adam Sandler's movies. If anything, it was after that when he started to do well in the awful Rom Com genre. That was her time, for sure. "Maid In Manhattan" likely did well soon....I would hardly say it was based on the star power of Ralph Fiennes. Great actor, but not putting asses in seats. She was a movie star for a short time, not a acclaimed actress. She needs to prove she can be the latter now.

And "The Cell" (if you count all the receipts, it made a profit). Possibly her first real starring role and certainly sort of noteworthy for being her first starring movie while not in the mindset of J. Lo. She could be a real actress if she wanted to be.
