I have apologized once and I will do it again. I often speak without thinking, but I don't mean harm. I always apologize-not that it excuses any insensitivity, perceived or otherwise on my part-I have no problem admitting when I am wrong. I was just curious about a man I deem as a musical genius, a chief architect of 20th century music, a man who paved the way for Prince and many others.

Again, I meant no harm.

This apology was just as sincere as the first one

You shouldn't have to apologize any more thumbs up!

Don't worry about it. You were just asking a question.

I just think Sly took a lot of bad judgment plus being on drugs didn't help matters.

I have Bi-Polar. I developed it after nearly dying of Bacterial Meningitis. I struggle with it every day.

Thanks for suggesting I am 'crazy'. I really appreciate it. Though I'd rather be 'crazy' than a narrow-minded, careless idiot.

The stigma of mental illness is often worse than the illness itself.

Yeah, that! I grew up with a Mom who was really sweet but had so many problems that I had to be her "Mom." Because it was the 70s she was mis-diagnosed with schizophrenia, which ended up years later with another mis-diagnosis of her real condition--which was early Alzheimer's two years ago--before her death from a pulmonary embolism. So, folks, look after your loved ones and don't accept the first diagnosis some "doctor" gives you... Educate yourselves! sad

And if she'd written that about AIDs or Cancer ... ?

Would she have been so insensitive?

Exactly. Stigma. I've seen it with friends and family who have suffered from depression and I'm seeing it here, however much one aoplogises.

She probably just upset him/her badly. Naturally, he/she is going to be sensitive, he/she is struggling with the illness. He/she may not even 'mean' it.

But mental stability and illness is always going to be a 'hot topic'. Reactions should be expected.

I think this depends on the individual. As I mentioned before, my girlfriend is Bi-Polar and I myself, was born with a disability that has effected my legs as well as my height. If she or I let every comment or critism bother us, both of us would slit our throats. Yes, words do effect us, but you could either let them hinder you or motivate you. She and I choose to use those words as motivation.

Thank you. I will take that advice.

Thanks. I was having a bad day with it and reacted sensitively. I just want rid of it and get my life back but for six years that hasn't happened.

Much love.

I kinda know what you are going through. My girlfriend has been having a hard time lately and it is mostly do to her bi-polar. It really helps to have a good support system around. She has me and my mom, who was a nurse and understands as well. Allot of people don't understand this disorder and it helps when people who have it are willing to talk about it. Thank you! It's good to know that she and I are not alone.
