THE WIND CRIES MARY . . .JIMI HENDRIX It just amazes me what type of inspiration creates legendary music. I've read that an argument Jimi had with his girlfriend caused him to write this song after she stormed out of their apartment.
I'd love to hear about more trivia/facts/intimate details and/or gossip relative to this song or others . . . . AFTER ALL JACKS ARE IN THEIR BOXES AND THE CLOWNS HAVE ALL GONE TO BED YOU CAN HEAR HAPPINESS STAGGERING ON DOWN THE STREET FOOTPRINTS DRESSED IN RED AND THE WIND WHISPERS MARY A BROOM IS DREARILY SWEEPING UP THE BROKEN PIECES OF YESTERDAY'S LIFE SOMEWHERE A QUEEN IS WEEPING SOMEWHERE A KING HAS NO WIFE AND THE WIND CRIES MARY THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS THEY TURN A BLUE TOMORROW AND SHINE THERE EMPTINESS DOWN ON MY BED THE TINY ISLAND SAGS DOWNSTREAM CAUSE THE LIFE THAT LIVED IS DEAD AND THE WIND SCREAMS MARY WILL THE WIND EVER REMEMBER THE NAMES IT HAS BLOWN IN THE PAST AND WITH ITS CRUTCH ITS OLD AGE AND ITS WISDOM IT WHISPERS "NO, THIS WILL BE THE LAST" AND THE WIND CRIES MARY [Edited 4/26/10 5:12am]

It's beautiful. The death of a relationship told through the imagery of its irrevocable separation.
The wind (a spirit, god, one's self analysis) as the wise, objective owl, carrying out the dying whispers, screams and cries of a once-great bond. The dawning of a new day that carries so much grief that even the most obvious of signals appear in a melancholy hue. The broken glass from last night's coup de grace swept up while thoughts of forever sink and drift off in utter defeat. But it'll never happen again. We're going to be wiser.
