Kylie Minogue jets off for Cannes

ESCAPING Britain's unseasonably cold spring weather Kylie Minogue jetted out of London yesterday for the sunnier French party town of Cannes. Spotted at Heathrow Airport yesterday, the Australian pop star was dressed in a London-weather-inspired grey outfit, including Yves Saint Laurent's much-coveted Downtown handbag which sells for $US1695 ($AU1909).
The bag may have been an early sweet reward for the songstress after her comeback single All The Lovers has been tipped a chart success.
The single from her forthcoming album was released on the weekend and Minogue described it to OK Magazine as: "a euphoric slice of emotional pop, like a slice of rich chocolate cake."
Minogue's expected arrival at Cannes Film Festival will add much-needed star wattage to the annual celebrity social event.

I like the synths, but the song got boring to me after just 2-3 plays. The melody isn't strong enough to carry such an "epic" production all the way home.

Dance queen Kylie's last album failed to make much of a splash stateside, but plenty has changed since it was released in 2007. For one, her new album will be released in the United States a day after its U.K. bow, as opposed to the six-month lag the last one faced. And in the last several months, her brand of upbeat Euro-disco has suddenly stormed the charts. "I hope the rise of people like David Guetta helps me," she says. "It's funny that this is happening now, because I've been doing it for so long."

Minogue partnered with Nervo and the Scissor Sisters for specific tracks, and Stuart Price executive-produced the album. Sonically, there aren't many surprises-it's still the same club-friendly sound she's known for. Such tracks as first single "For All the Lovers" feature breathy vocals and pulsating beats, while "Put Your Hands Up" and "Too Much" sound like they came straight from Studio 54. Minogue's biggest statement is on the title track: "I was gone," she sings over a pounding beat, "but now I'm back."

The video is apparently about a mass orgy where only models are allowed to participate.

There's an odd bit in that clip: when they raise Kylie up in the air there's a hand caressing her face. I wonder if the dancers / extras were instructed to do so, or did they just sort of "go with the mood" as so to speak?
