He was not in a coma, that's already been clarified. He got out of the coma and was doing well but died of complications caused by cancer.

Really? Who other than Solar clarified it?

Oh come on, how you gonna make up something like that? Doctors and medical records would be quickly used to prove that ish false.

I'm thinking the same damn thing at THIS moment.

Are/were Guru & Solar boyfriends or something?!?

Given the homophobia that still exist in certain hip-hop/rap circles, I don't think the hip-hop purists are ready to hear the rest of this latest soap opera.

spit Ummmmm, I KNOW for a FACT Guru wasn't gay. lol

I notice you didn't answer my question but that's ok. Guru is gone now and I just hope that his soul is at peace.

As for the rest of it, we'll learn the truth soon enough because by putting that letter out there, Solar has invited inquiries from people far more curious and suspicious than I am. wink
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Look, I'm not the type of person to dissect everyone's post and respond to every single word (like others *cough cough*). LOL I think my response clearly acknowledged your point but if it makes your day any brighter, your correct, know one to this point beyond Solar has verified he came out of his comma. Happy? lol

Thank you. clapping I wish people would not make assumptions about his sexual orientation, even *if* he was gay, that's no one's business. ANyway, I can't believe this shit. bawl cry He was one of my favorite rappers, he was so awesome with Premo, they made wonderful songs together, especially "Full Clip", "It's a Jazz Thing", "Words that I Manifest", "Mass Appeal", etc. RIP Guru!!!!!

My bad. I didn't realize our little discussion had anything to do me...personally. wink But since you asked, no I'm not happy and my day isn't any brighter. Guru is still gone and I still think that letter is bullshit...period!

If you'd like to discuss that as adults...we can. If you just want to get immature and childish about it...we can do that too but I'd prefer not to sully this thread with that. My Orgnotes work just fine. You're welcome to bringiton

For what it's worth Hatrina: The letter may be a dictation of his last words or a forgery. But GURU is "NOTORIOUS" (No Chris Wallace) for holding grudges and going on and on about peers that have wronged him. One of my friends after a studio session spent a night sparking up with Guru.

He said Guru would not be quiet about Premier. He kept going on and on about Premo. We are talking literally hours. Guru's mellow image was just that, a facade. He despised the association of Gangstarr. That much is clear.

There is even a recent video interview where he scolds the interviewer on video of bringing up any instance of Gangstarr or the name of Dj Premier. Solar latched onto Guru's bitterness in the last remaining years. But as far as Guru not holding a grudge in death? I dont see it. He was one angry dude about Gangstarr and Premier legacy. I can honestly see Guru in Heaven still badmouthing Premier to St Peter

St. Peter:Welcome Guru
Guru: Peace, that dj isn't coming soon is he?
St.Peter: I will have to check the register
Guru: Better not be! Or there will be problems
St. Peter: It says here Dj Premier will be here with us 30 years from now.
Guru: Yo, why did you say his name?
St. Peter: Who?? Dj Premier?
Guru: You said it fuckin again!! DOnt EVER say that name to me.
St. Peter: I apologize
Guru: Where's the studio? I need to work on Jazzamatazz 5
St. Peter: The studio is in your imagination
Guru: What the fuck, St Peter? Where is the studio? Don't make me smack you
Son
St Peter: There should be a temporal one a few yards where you are standing. We appreciate your work with Gangstarr. It's legendary here. Jimi loves it
Guru: Yo, Gangstarr? What the fuck? What about my solo work?
St. Peter: Sorry, I did not get around to listening to it.
Jimi: ::Walks up: Dig, These are the words I manifest
Guru: What the fuck JIMI? That was over 20 years ago! Would you want me to come up to you and say Foxy Lady was your best tune. Just leave me alone man
Jimi: .....
::another figure walks through the gates to greet Guru:
2pac: My Nigga! Just to get a REP is my SHIIIIT!!! :starts laughing:
Guru: What the fuck Tu? I did more than that work with THAT DJ!
2pac:Premier? What the fuck is your problem,NIGGA
Guru: My work with Solar is legendary.
2pac: My bad nigga, I didnt know you made strides in Solar Technology.
Guru: What the fuck? Even fucking Heaven is not letting my recent work be heard

Solar was like his Larry Graham :Falloff:

lol Damn, why you gotta bring Larry into this??? This is officially when the thread imploded never to return. geek

No, I didn't see this interview (i'ma watch it now) but I was around him frequently in the 90s and Keith was intense to say the least and a dog with a bone if he felt insulted. I loved him to death but that shit got on my nerves so I just ignored him when he got in his moods. He was definitely one of them "Is he gonna hug me or choke me" type nuccas. But he had a really sweet side too and hearing that voice growling in my ear . . . cloud9

Damn my ass dyslexic disbelief lol

It may not be right but did you see the allhip hop interview he did? eek You want to talk about awkward. Everytime the interviewer tried to bring up a track from the Gangstarr Era, it was brutal. falloff

This dispells any myth that Guru was a calm individual regarding Gangstarr. This interview is evidence that Guru kept a dictatorship mentality on the subject of Premier or Gangstar or the recordings. And for anyone wondering why Guru's press was scant? No one wanted to deal with that shit.
