Certainly better than that crap that was to be Brittney's film debut. Mariah's acting is adequate as she is essentially playing herself. The story is rather predictable; lady sings the blues meets a star is born minus the drugs, sex, and hooking.
Ok that's stretching it but the film does try to take elements of Mimi's real life and make it more dramatic but not enough to garner an R rating. Gotta let her kiddie fans enjoy her rags to riches storyline.
So...in hindsight: Do you think the film still sucks? Do you think the film was unneccesarily panned? Would this film had worked better with someone other than Mariah? Was it the direction that killed the film or just a Mimi backlash? Was it Eric Benet's and Da Brat's fault? Discuss...  Thank fuck for that....I thought you meant Gary Glitter | |
