falloff I don't don't care for a lot of gangsta rap, except for a few, I prefer alternative hip hop. Next are R&B and some Pop music, other than that, I don't care about those other genres from the 90s.

maybe not, but you can't say there wasn't a lot going on. there was, whether it was stuff that was interesting to you or not.

Oh sure, but that's not really saying much bored . Look how much was going in the 00s and yet it was still boring also.

That reminds me of New Year's Eve of 1999. There was an event downtown called "Jackson Night Out" or something like that, where there was a street party with a lot of gospel groups, Inky the Clown, an Elvis impersonator, arts and crafts, etc. It was advertised as "a night out for the entire family with no alcohol".

Well, the damn thing flopped and they couldn't understand why since so many people complain that there's nothing to do and here they were giving us something to do. Yeah, they had plenty do do but hell, look at what they were giving us. A damn clown, an Elvis impersonator, some ugly homemade arts and crafts, and worst of all "bring the kids" and "no alcohol". Who the hell wants to do that on New Year's Eve. Hell, leave the damn brats at home, get drunk, look for some dick, and bring on the funk! lol

It just dawn on me as of April 12, 2010.

So we're going to hear a lot of how "great" the 1990's were.

And for the record, I think I'm finally getting old and I'm still age 35. disbelief

Anyway, here is the first two of our 90's flashback:

Nuttin' Nyce were a girl group that came out within the same generation that included En Vogue, TLC, SWV, & Jade. But unlike those other group, Nuttin' Nyce only last one career album.

I'll have more to follow depending on everyone else's interest in this thread. I can only hope that my fellow orgers that had childhoods in the 70's & 80's don't piss on the 90's too badly, especially if we have die-hard 90's fans around here somewhere. lol

lol Damn, why am I not surprised? lol People have beeen bitching about the 90s since 2006. I was born in '91 and I'm not a 90s kid at all, but I do remember a lot stuff from that time. But as for music, I only like Hip-Hop, R&B, and some Pop music, but even that's not saying much. Anyway, I just think it's hilarious how many people want to entirely blame Lil Wayne and Soulija Boi because of how bad Rap/Hip-Hop is nowadays, but wait a minute! How come no one ever mentions people Lil Jon and The EastSide Boys, The Franchise Boys, or D4L? They were mostly the reasons why I really didn't like a lot of Rap music at that time. lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

And lets not forget about THIS classic dirty south hip-hop artist:

I'm glad somebody else noticed the pattern hmmm

2000-2005: It was the 70s retro
2006-2008: It was the 80s(sometimes 60s) retro
2010: LIKE YOU SAID! lol

Actually, 70's retro started in the early 90's.

I know this for a fact because of all of the P-Funk sampling that was going on in rap at the time. Even with the release of The Chronic, Dr. Dre pushed the G-Funk sound, which was really the P-Funk at a tempo of 95 BPM!
lol

It was also in the early 90's that genres such as house & hip-house was still popular, giving much shout-out to 70's disco era. Even in dance-pop, an artist like Kylie Minogue was rocking a disco-inspired track:

and alt-rock, grunge, gangsta rap, sensitive female singer-songwriters, alternative electronic stuff.... the 90's had a LOT going on.

That's right, Lollapalooza, the Lilith Fair, the whole techno/rave thing--all huge in the 90s.

.....and breakbeats! nod

There was this show MTV used to have in the late 90's called The Amp. The show only lasted two seasons. During that time, some people (especially the media) wonder if electronic music was finally good enough to put an end to the dominance of hip-hip/rap.

Well, the answer was no. disbelief lol Hip-hop/rap is still here in 2010 and electronic music had to wait until an artists like Goldfrapp & Lady Gaga to come along to help the genre get another opportunity of mainstream success, even if it had to mix in with dance-pop to do it.

I knew this thread was coming sooner or later. I miss the 90's for carefree days and the songs behind it, but I don't think it's a special retro decade, definitely not my favourite like the 80's.

Don't get it twisted. I'll be the very first to tell you that the 90's is very weak compare to the 60's, 70's, & 80's.

But there are some things about the 90's that I like. But most of my favorites are within 90-93 time line.

It just wouldn't been the 90's without TLC. And it would be interest to see if there will ever been an excellent (undiscovered) girl band in the 2010's.
